Wood is currently recruiting for Senior Automation Engineers (AE) with Siemens PCS7 Experienced to support across various high-profile projects in the UK. The AE will join our Systems Integration team within our Digital Consulting business.
Our Systems Integration (SI) team operate across UK; therefore, the role can be based at any of the following UK offices; Aberdeen, Staines, Reading, Glasgow or Northampton on a hybrid basis.
Please note applicants must be able to pass HMG Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check.
The Role
Due to growth across our SI business, we are looking for a Senior Automation Engineers in relation to upcoming project awards for 2025.
We are seeking to hear from individuals who have Siemens PCS7 experience within Automation and Controls projects, who are driven by solving complex technical challenges for our clients.
As an experienced Senior Automation Engineer, you will support the implementation of projects in line with company objectives including continuous improvement of margin, customer satisfaction, schedule, working capital and safety performance.

Our Systems Integration (SI) team, work with a variety of high-profile clients across the energy sector. Delivering bespoke essential automation and control solutions that enable a safer and more efficient operation.
Within SI, we are architecting our clients’ digital ecosystems to be inherently safe, cybersecure and operable. Within our teams we integrate client source systems across their IT, Operational Technology (OT) environments, securely pushing OT data into IT systems as a foundation for transformation.

Responsibilities
The key objectives for this role are:
Provides expert-level knowledge in Siemens PCS 7 systems, including architecture design, engineering, and implementation
Leads the design and deployment of automation and control solutions, ensuring alignment with client requirements and industry standards
Oversees the configuration, programming, and integration of Siemens PCS 7 DCS, PLCs, and SCADA systems
Supports and mentors engineering teams to ensure technical accuracy and successful project delivery
Applies advanced integration techniques across multi-vendor platforms and legacy systems
Manages the development of control strategies, database structures, and automation logic within PCS 7 environments
Ensures cybersecurity and industrial network design is integrated into automation systems
Coordinates with cross-disciplinary teams including process, electrical, and IT for system integration
Drives continuous improvement and standardization across automation projects

Expected:
Bachelor’s degree or a master’s degree in an engineering discipline
Experienced in Siemens PCS7
Previous experience working in a project delivery environment
Previous experience and competency in Automation and Control Engineering
Previous experience in writing software specifications
Detailed experience with multiple system implementation projects and / or control system platforms
Previous experience of addressable F&G systems
Previous experience of Microsoft SQL
A sound understanding of engineering practices, methodologies and economic principles, calculation methods, design details, international codes and standards, procedures, and specifications
Knowledge of modern automation and control applications, tools, methodologies
Strong planning, organising and execution skills
Desirable:
Professional Engineer or engineering chartership preferred
Rockwell PLC and SCADA systems experience
Experience of Inductive Automation Ignition SCADA
