Jobs in Industrial Networks

What are Industrial Networks in Automation?

Industrial Networks are the network infrastructure that supports communication between field devices and automation equipment such as SCADA, PLC and DCS.

What Skills are Required to Work with Industrial Networks?

  • Industrial Network Design: Ability to design complex multi-topological industrial networks based on spatial arrangement, environmental constraints, and end-user requirements for manageability, availability, and latency.
  • Industrial Network Commissioning: Ability to configure, troubleshoot, and commission various Layer 2 (L2) and Layer 3 (L3) network devices, including servers, workstations, switches, firewalls, and routers.
  • Industrial Network Protocols: Demonstrating knowledge of both application and physical layer communication protocols used for ICS integration, such as OPC, Modbus, CAN Bus, DNP3, BACnet, and Ethernet/IP.
  • Industrial Network Diagnostics: Monitoring and analyzing Ethernet network traffic to identify sources of network faults and performance issues using diagnostic tools like Wireshark.
  • ICS Network Security: Managing Industrial Control Systems (ICS) network cyber security activities, including penetration testing, hardening, access control, vulnerability management, and patch management.
