To execute our mission to become the leading Controls Solution Provider in North America, we are seeking a Mechatronics Engineer.
Job Summary
• Responsible for supporting both manufacturing production lines and marketing requirements.
• Process improvement, process automation, production testing, manufacturing procedures
• Implementing training, troubleshooting, continuous improvement, procurement, documentation, production and processing methods using proven engineering techniques and practices to meet production schedule, quality and safety standards in an efficient manner.
• Partner with Manufacturing Engineer Manager or Senior Engineer in reviewing proposals (cost, resources) and in controlling (scheduling, testing) of projects to expand manufacturing capabilities (new techniques, new products).
• This job is a combination of manufacturing and product engineering.
• The engineer supports multiple manufacturing departments.
• Develops and implements manufacturing standard procedures to meet the quality and safety standards.
• Works to design systems for implementing industrial automation techniques and process improvements.
• Sets up and monitors the production line and trains manufacturing personnel.
• Assists in design of jigs and fixtures and prepares required engineering drawings. 2D and 3D CAD designs are required, as well as the ability to follow General Dimension and Tolerance guidelines.
• Creates and oversees implementation of engineering change notices and revision levels for all related departments (manufacturing, marketing, QA, purchasing, service, etc.).
• Provides engineering interface with purchasing (production control) and QA to purchase equipment, service, and materials, and to reduce manufacturing costs.
• Supports marketing by investigating and designing new applications and special customer orders (TOKUCHU).
• Generates the required drawings and estimate costs for special orders.
• Responsible for uncompromising quality to all work processes in designated area of responsibility. Has the authority to stop those work processes at any time it is believed quality is being compromised.
• Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
• The job requires good writing and communication skills to communicate basic information with peers, customers, and management – both orally and in written format.
• Must be comfortable interfacing with many different individuals and demonstrate cooperation and interaction across stakeholders with similar goals, typically internal.
• Utilize basic analytical and problem solving skills related to field.
• Ability to receive constructive feedback and/or coaching, and respond appropriately.
• Demonstrate basic engineering knowledge in CAD, technical communication, mechanical design, electronics, and process improvement techniques.
• Proficiency in AutoDesk (AutoCAD, Inventor), DraftSight, Solidworks, or other similar 2D or 3D CAD platform.
• Preferred: Working knowledge of PLC’s, Ladder Logic, HMI’s, data acquisition, and basic programming skills related to automating processes.
Education & Experience:
BS degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other equivalent engineering degree. Previous experience (up to 5 years) in a manufacturing environment is preferred, but not required.
Work Environment:
This job requires equal time in an office environment as it does in the manufacturing facility. Time spent in manufacturing is often related to troubleshooting or preparing newequipment/jigs/fixtures.
Physical Demand:
The employee must be able to sit, stand, and walk for a reasonable amount of time. It is occasionally required to lift up to 50 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
