Electrical Engineering & Service Manager

YOUR ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

In this role, the Test Engineer provides hands on routine and type testing support to traction converters for rail projects. This position will apply power electronics, software and system testing to ensure completion of all test activities efficiently and cost-effectively to meet deadlines. The work model for the role is: #LI – Onsite This role is contributing to the Motion Traction Division in Richmond (Mechanicsville), VA area. You will be mainly accountable for: • Perform high power testing tasks like Hi-Pot, semiconductor and continuity verification. Collect test data and reporting using available tools and automation. Basic troubleshooting and debugging skills using scopes and digital meters. • Collaborate with Controls, Test and Electrical Engineers to absorb directions and flag roadblocks, and work with QA to improve processes eliminating defects from production and improve test efficiency. Adhere to ISO 9000 quality system. • Adhere to the safety standards and regulation set by ABB. Comfortable updating software in embedded systems for power converters. • Familiar with power conversion and topologies (or willingness to learn). QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ROLE

• Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering.
• Ability to read power electronic schematics and basic knowledge of power conversion topologies.
• Some exposure to power converters testing preferred. Familiar with ABB AC800 PEC tools is a strong plus. Adhere to ISO 9000 quality system.
• 2+ years previous experience in an electronics manufacturing and testing industry is a plus.
• Basic troubleshooting and debugging skills using scopes and digital meters. Familiar with power conversion and topologies (or willingness to learn).
• Willing to travel to customer sites for data collection, troubleshooting and commissioning, (if needed). Travel needed 5-10%
• Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
