As a Sr Advanced Electrical Engineer here at Honeywell, you will play a key role in leading the design and development of advanced electrical systems and components. You will provide technical expertise and guidance to cross-functional teams, ensuring the successful execution of projects.

You will report directly to our Sr Engineering Manager and you’ll work out of our Mississauga, ON location.

In this role, you will be responsible for creating electrical engineering solutions to sustain and grow Honeywell’s Avionics Repair & Overhaul (R&O) business through cost reduction and repair capability expansion.

The Honeywell building is a controlled goods program environment. Candidates must be eligible for CGP and extended Secret security clearance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Use advanced avionics knowledge and engineering discipline to complete engineering tasks
• Introduce & lead creative and innovative solutions for test capacity and test time reduction to enable productivity
• Lead site critical test equipment plan right from design to maintenance with robust plans and road maps
• Drive projects having global functional involvement like test engineering product engineering and NPIs teams.
• Drive Capital needs for test equipment productivity improvement to drive significant through put.
• Work with global teams and develop action plans to drive all value engineering projects
• Able to develop and modify test software and possible automations to reduce manual testing and improve labor efficiencies.(Functions by ETS)
• Identify opportunities for repair cost reduction and manage projects from solution development through deployment
• Expand avionics repair capability by developing and deploying new repair processes, and lead the entry-into-service process for repair of newly developed products
• Introduce new technology and find new applications of existing technology to improve repair shop business performance
• Lead effort between avionics product design engineering, test design engineering, and service center staff to resolve issues with product modification, upgrades, investigations, and repair of test equipment
• Actively seek out and identify areas to standardize avionics repair and test procedures across sites for productivity improvements
• Lead cross-functional teams through the Corrective Action Request (CAR) process and negotiate solutions to prevent defects from being introduced into product repair processes
• Communicate directly with internal and external customers and suppliers about status on resolutions for problems such as repair delivery disruptions, no-fault-found situations, warranty review, and first-year-in-service failures
• Perform avionics bench test system troubleshooting and repairs, and implement engineering solutions to prevent test equipment down-time
• Convince internal customers to fund capital purchases by using quantified business impacts such as ROI, payback period, and NPV
• Mentor junior engineers while defining and revising engineering processes for the GROE team
• Develop Repair and Overhaul Instruction
• Set up Master Data and coordinate with cross functional team for fully completion of SAP Material Master Set up
• Create, Maintain the DIR pertaining to the internal documents (Drawings, TRD,)
• Tools and Equipment Out of Tolerance Report (OTR) – Justification and Evaluation
• MRB/RMRA/PRB/RTV Support
• Site R&O Technicians support requests documentation, and technical advisement
• Customer support/escalations – NFF issues, Engineering investigation requested by Customer
• Technical Documentations (CMM, SB, SIL) review and approval.
• Develop Engineering Special Instruction and Equivalency Letter
• Develop and design fixtures, order tools necessary for repairing, modification, reworks, and disassembly and assembly process.
• QN for Engineering review
• Create solutions to enable material re-use
• Provide technical expertise and guidance to cross-functional teams.
• Conduct feasibility studies and analyze technical requirements.

YOU MUST HAVE

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as science, technology and engineering.
• 10 years working in the avionics or electronics industry or equivalent experience.

• Experience in running and managing test resources tools and processes right from Design to sunset of test equipment
• Knowledge of avionics & engine controller products and systems such as, electromechanical instruments, flight controls, weather radar, Cabin Pressure controllers, Predator modules, thermal management units, Sensors (Pressure and Temp), VCC (Vapor Cycle Controller System), ELCU (Electrical Load Control Unit), PTMSC (Power Thermal Management System Controller)
• Understanding of FAR 21 (OEM) and FAR 145 (repair) regulation concepts
• Familiarity with guidelines DO-178, DO-254 and DO-160
• Understanding of product and test system configuration management
• Ability to learn and comply with import and export regulations (EAR and ITAR)
• Familiar with SAP system
• Knowledge of LEAN, JIT, Kaizen, and SIX SIGMA methodology.
