The key objectives for this role are:
Develop, review, and refine instrumentation and control system designs that align with project specifications and industry standards.
Lead I&C engineering tasks within multidisciplinary projects—ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality benchmarks are consistently met.
Specify and select appropriate instrumentation and control devices, develop control philosophies, and validate process control logic.
Ensure all systems comply with relevant safety codes (e.g., IEC, ISA, SIL) and internal quality assurance protocols.
Oversee installation, testing, and commissioning of I&C systems, and provide advanced troubleshooting support during operation.
Conduct hazard and operability studies (HAZOP), failure mode effect analyses (FMEA), and implement safety-integrated system (SIS) logic.
Collaborate with process, electrical, and mechanical teams to align control strategies with broader system requirements.
Responsibilities
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities: To have single – point responsibility for all Instrument and Controls System design and engineering deliverables and ensure that they conform to all applicable engineering codes and standards as well as the Client’s policies and proceduresDefinition of plant overall controls architectureCoordination of I&C team and reporting to Project or Engineering Manager on project related mattersSupporting the Planning, scheduling and execution of discipline activities and deliverables, including manhour estimating and schedule preparation to support bid / tendering as required.Ownership of I&C schedule and planningManage discipline work to the required schedule and manpower allocation, including requesting personnel as identified by the plan, and day-to-day supervision of discipline personnel on the project. This includes approval of timesheets, holiday approval and overtime approval where delegated.Manage and report progress of all I&C engineering and design budgets in line with contract requirements including weekly and cumulative productivity.To identify any areas of concern with respect to progress and / or quality and recommend corrective actions as requiredTo attend weekly internal and external progress meetings and generate status reports for the Engineering / Project ManagerTo ensure all team members are competency assessed and maintain the competency of the team in line with company and Client requirementsDefine minimum acceptance criteria and Undertake pre qualification of third partiesLiaise and engage with Licensors, Equipment Vendors and OEM’s as required to conclude the project deliverables in accordance with the project scope and provide third party budget costs for stage gate estimates as requiredDefine scope of work for 3rd Party sub contracts as required.Preparation of Tender Bid Evaluations and assessment of bidsReview of Vendor Documents on Detailed Engineering ProjectsProvide input to EPC scope of work and EPC Tender Package for EXECUTE stageTo co – ordinate with other disciplines during all stages of design development, construction, pre – commissioning, and start – up to ensure there is no conflict within the overall engineering design.To provide technical support to site in terms of material inspection, Factory Acceptance Testing etc.Ensure compliance with management of change processes both technical and financialTo provide direction and guidance on technical queries relating to I&C engineering and raise appropriate EQ’s / deviationsTo participate in all project safety and design reviews as necessaryTo ensure that all work is completed without compromise to quality and is delivered according to the project scheduleTo liaise with the Client’s Engineering, Operations and Maintenance staff as required to ensure a consistent approach to project completion whilst ensuring that the project is concluded within the boundary of the technical scope.Take ownership for Risk Identification, Assessment, Mitigation, Monitoring and Close Out for your respective discipline.To promote safe behavior at all timesTo provide sound technical advice and solutions to a diversity of technical problems within the disciplinePromote and encourage smarter ways of working and champion continuous improvement within your departmentEnsure all lessons learnt are captured and shared

Expected:Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (Instrumentation or Electronics) from an accredited university with a minimum of fifteen (15+) years of relevant experience in the Offshore/Onshore Oil & Gas industry, including minimum (5) years (preferred) in GCC regionExtensive experience in FEED, Detail design and EPC projectsFully coherent in all international codes and standardsExcellent command of both spoken and written English is requiredAssurance of tender and supply for all I&C equipmentThorough knowledge of DCS, ESD, F&G and SCADA systems generally incorporated in major Brownfield oil / gas offshore projects.Participation with contribution during P&IDs, HAZOP, and SIL reviews workshop Review and where required approval of work by othersPrevious experience of working in the Middle East would be an advantage
