Job Description

Wood is seeking “Expression of Interest” for an Intermediate to Senior level Drafting Technologist, in New Brunswick with power and industrial sector experience.
As a drafting technologist you will work in the drafting department on activities from the preliminary design phase through to as-building and closeout documentation. Documentation includes, but is not limited to, P&ID’s, Schematics, Equipment Layouts, Piping and Heat Tracing Isometrics, Panelboard schedules, Cause and Effect diagrams, Loop diagrams, Vendor documents, and other Project Closeout deliverables.

Responsibilities

Develop schematics, P&ID’s, plan drawings, elevation views, section views, and installation details
3D modelling
Convey results and findings by means of oral discussions, graphic-based presentations and project documentation
Design or redesign complex layouts and drawings from general sketches, or written and verbal specifications from project team
Create exhibits and documents for presentations and reports
Coordinate with project team to ensure that the design is free of errors and clashes
Create and update database of design records for reference and utilization on future projects
Adhere to discipline-specific CAD standards

Qualifications

Graduation from a post-secondary Technologist Diploma
Either Mechanical / Piping or Electrical / Instrument background
A minimum of 7 years of experience 3D modelling and preparing design drawings (using Autodesk AutoCAD, MicroStation, Aveva E3D) related to construction plan development, including plan, profile, and detail views
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
Proficiency in MS Office
Ability to develop Bill of Materials
Able to conduct field verification of designs prior to, during, and after construction
Coordinate with multiple engineering disciplines, equipment vendors, and installation contractors
Must be a Canadian citizen or authorized to work lawfully in Canada, without sponsorship from Wood
