Emerson’s Analytical Instruments organization, a global leader in the development and manufacturing of process analytical equipment for liquid analysis, combustion analysis, and Flame and Gas Detection has an exciting career opportunity as a Principal Software Design Engineer based at our Shakopee, MN location. This Principal Design Engineer position will be responsible for new product development and sustaining engineering support in the Liquid and Combustion engineering and development group.In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

• Defining project-specific software development processes
• Managing software requirements activities, including elicitation, analysis, and documentation
• Performing Object-Oriented Design and coding of real-time embedded software
• Creating and executing unit and integration tests
• Debugging Software and Hardware/Software integration issues
• Being a member of an interdisciplinary team
• Participating in peer reviews

For This Role, You Will Need:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science from an engineering school. An ABET-accredited engineering degree is preferred.
• Eight (8) years of applicable experience. Masters degree preferred

• Experience with:Real-time multi-threaded embedded systems, microcontrollersObject-Oriented design and UMLC, C++, and Assembly language programmingSerial protocol interfaces: CAN, SPI, SCI, IIC

Our compensation philosophy is simple: we pay a competitive base salary, within the local market in which we operate, and reward performance during our annual merit review process. The salary range for this role is $125,000 – $150,000 annually, commensurate with the skills, talent, capabilities, and experience each candidate brings to a role.
