About the position

We are looking for an experienced power electronics engineer to strengthen the Power Conversion Research Team in Shanghai. Within the Industrial Automation Business Unit and Innovation & Technology organization, our team oversees the cutting-edge technologies related to power converters and transfer these technologies to all interested lines of business of Schneider-Electric. The team is currently composed of 9 experts in France and 1 expert in Shanghai and we are willing to expend our activity in China.

We design power converters proof-of-concepts from 100W to 100kW for a wide range of applications (Variable Speed Drives, UPS, Solar Inverters…) with a focus on evaluating emerging technologies and discovering new concepts that would bring value to the company or to our customers.

You will join a highly skilled team of power electronics, EMC and power components experts and will have access to the latest tools to develop and imagine innovative converters.

Your missions

• Lead research projects in power electronics related to variable speed drive innovations (architecture, topology, WBG components integration).
• Design and test converter prototypes to demonstrate new concepts.
• Connect with local universities and build joint project to leverage academic expertise.
• Do an active technology watch by reading papers and patents, participating to conferences, and maintaining a strong collaboration with our suppliers.
• Actively participate in the internal expert’s community to share your results and spread your knowledge.
• Impact Schneider-Electric lines of business by proposing valuable innovations to the development teams, worldwide.

Qualifications

Mandatory

• Master’s degree in power electronics, electronics, or electrical engineering.
• 3+ years experience working with three-phase AC/DC topologies, especially on variable speed drives applications.
• Experience in product design with a good knowledge of regulations (electrical safety, EMC…) and design rules in power electronics.
• Strong skill in converter modelling in Matab/Simulink or PLECS or PSIM.
• A passion for research.
• The ability to adapt and collaborate effectively with other departments.
• Curiosity, rigor, organization, and autonomy.
• Advanced level in English, good writing skills.

Nice to have

• PhD in power electronics related to variable speed drives design.
• knowledge in motor control theory.
• Advanced level in French.
