Yokogawa is currently searching for a Life Science Field Service Engineer.

JOBSUMMARY

Responsible for delivering customer satisfaction by providing high-level engineering / field support for all Life Science products and non-Yokogawa products. Implementation of process controls or instrumentation in accordance with customer requirements, accepted industry standards, and Yokogawa standards and procedures. TheLife Science Field Service Engineer will provide installation, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of Yokogawa high content analysis, single cellome solutions, and third party equipment. The position will also support efforts to generate sales of Yokogawa Life Science life cycle agreements.

DUTIES/RESULTS

• Perform installation, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of Yokogawa Life Science solutions.

• Provide phone and email support to Yokogawa Life Science customers related to software, hardware, or instrumentation.

• Maintain appropriate service part inventory.

• Schedule installation, preventive maintenance, and other onsite service work.

• Prepare life cycle agreements (LCAs) and proposals for troubleshooting and repair of Yokogawa Life Science solutions.

• Diagnose problems remotely and when necessary, follow up with on-site work or dispatch third-party service providers for on-site work. Follow up to ensure problems were resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.

• Actively monitor the status of LCAs, warranties, and new installations. Track and schedule on-site PM.

• Track service cases and activities using Yokogawa’s service system.

• At the beginning of each month, provide a report on previous the previous month’s activities and utilization including a forecast of service activities.

• Ensure that all documentation related to in-house and on-site support activity is completed correctly and submitted on a timely basis.

• Perform additional duties or work on projects as deemed necessary

DIMENSION

Works under general direction of Life Science Director, or Sales Manager. Independently evaluates selects, and makes adaptations and modifications to standard techniques, procedures and criteria.

SPECIFICATIONS -MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Educational Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science degree in engineering in electrical or mechanical engineering or related discipline.

Experience Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years practical experience in field service or troubleshooting software and lab equipment

• Mechanically adept with blueprint reading/drawing knowledge

• Troubleshooting skills

• Prior project management experience is a plus

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

• Organization, planning, and time management skills

Other Job Requirements:

• Must have a valid driver’s license

• Must have a valid passport

• Must be able to travel up to 75% of the time, including regular 3 to 5 days onsite visits

Skills and Knowledge required:

• Advanced hands-on light microscopy optics, preferable with confocal laser scanning experience.

• System-level diagnostic skills using inquiries, observations, system schematics & documentation, software tools, and communications / electrical diagnostic aids (break-out box, meters, etc.)

• Multi-disciplinary technical skills/comfort with software, electrical, and mechanical systems.

• Comfortable with computers, serial communications, and software – adept with the general use of computers, adept with serial communications cabling and diagnostics, and have at least a rudimentary knowledge of programming languages to be able to read a program and understand the logic.

• Comfortable with wiring and pneumatics (schematics, PLCs, power panels).

• Comfortable with mechanical systems (CAD drawings, fasteners).

• Demonstrated experience with automation, robots, and/or instrumentation.
