Job Description:
Position Summary:
Provide professional project management, equipment installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and customer support services for a complete range of our machines and products. Demonstrate excellent technical, customer service, and communication skills on the job. Train customer employees in fundamental operation and maintenance procedures for Alliance/Systec equipment. Searches for opportunities to improve company products, generate revenue, and provide value to the customer with the company’s ultimate good and reputation in mind.
Responsibilities:
Travel
• Independently travel to customer sites to perform equipment service, installation work, and training – demonstrating a thorough understanding of the fundamentals of customer service.
• Able to effectively make all travel arrangements – working directly with the travel agents, airlines, rental car companies, etc.
• Travel is estimated around 75% of the time.
Installation & Service
• Installs equipment and associated machinery as required by customer to interface with new or existing production line equipment.
• Service calls – which include troubleshooting, electrical/control work, conducting system audits, preventive maintenance, rebuilds, retrofits, and system training.
• Excellent customer service – representing the corporation in a professional manner that builds customer loyalty and creates future sales opportunities.
Troubleshooting
• Wide variety equipment start-up and design problems during customer installations – as well as internal debug and acceptance testing.
• PLC and HMI programming logic independently and/or with Engineering on field related problems.
• Utilizing your internal resources.
Project Management
• Serves as on-site supervisor/project manager for the installation and training of Alliance equipment.
• Establishes a professional rapport with customer at project location – be the single point of contact.
• Assists in the development of installation and training schedules.
Documentation
• Completes all required documentation accurately and within established time periods following established company and department procedures.
• Provides reports – outlining process improvement (production, documentation, machine, etc.)
Customer Acceptance Testing
• Performs machine acceptance at factory for machines ready for shipment – to include identifying defects and corrections necessary for acceptance and obtains signed acceptance certificate. Elevates issues to immediate supervisor when necessary.
Training
• Achieve and maintain technical proficiency to a level capable of assisting in the training and skills development of new Field Technicians. Coach and model behavior for new Field Technicians. Train new Field Technicians on company specific troubleshooting methods and tools.
• Demonstrate profound understanding of all machinery, components, control systems, PLC programs – and overall sub-system interactions of Alliance equipment.
• Contribute to the development of operator and maintenance training sessions at customer locations.
• Trains customer personnel on equipment functions, safety features to include safe working techniques, machine operation, operator interface devices, service requirements, accessibility, spare parts, use of operator manual, and technical support phone numbers.
Customer Telephone Support
• Provide customer telephone support for technical issues.
• Recommend solutions – seeking assistance as required from other field technicians, the Engineering Department, system experts, and/or the Service Manager.
• Participate in the After Hours Emergency Call Program including maintaining the Inbound Call Service log during that time.
Procedures, Resources and Tools
• Stays knowledgeable in safe working practices with mechanical, electrical, controls, and hydraulic systems – and adheres to all company and customer requested safety policies and procedures.
• Completes and submits weekly timesheets, expense reports, trip reports, and all other necessary paperwork on time
• Provides feedback for mechanical, electrical, assembly and operator interface/control system improvements for all Alliance/Systec equipment problems during installation – and relay information to Engineering and Manufacturing Departments.
• Provides suggestions for cost savings or upgrading features that comply with design function of the equipment. Writes Design / Document Change Request (DCR) for any of these items.
• Use computers and software tools, hand tools, documentation, and procedures independently to perform service work in a timely and efficient manner.
• Provides assistance to fellow Field Service Technicians at project locations requiring more than one technician.
• May serve as technical support for customer issues or assist in Assembly department while in office.
Physical Requirements
1. Must be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds.
2. Must be capable of full range of body movement: head, neck, shoulders, lift arms overhead, work overhead, good dexterity and range of movement in fingers and hands.
3. Able to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
4. Must have good balance and lack fear of heights while working on ladders.
Minimum Requirements
Education:
Minimum of High School graduate or G.E.D. Prefer associates or bachelors degree in technical field.
Experience: 5-7years supervising, installing, and maintaining material handling equipment or other industrial machinery – with strongelectrical/mechanical/PLCbackground.
Skills
• Strong technical background in industrial equipment.
• Excellent communication and people skills.
• Willing to travel an average of 75% or more.
• Ability to respond andexceedcustomer needs.
• Good office abilities such as computer skills to include use of Microsoft Office and other standard business software.
• Excellent mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical knowledge to include reading blueprints, schematics, and layout drawings.
• Demonstrated proficiency in assembling and maintaining mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems.
• Excellent mechanical troubleshooting and intermediate electrical troubleshooting.
• Good understanding of control system networks especially Industrial Ethernet.
• Experience with Industrial Sensors (Photo Eyes, Inductive Sensors, etc.) and Analog/Digital Positioning (Encoders and Potentiometers)
• Competency with Variable Frequency Drives
• Intermediate/Advancedknowledge of PLCs and machine language, to include reading ladder logic, uploading and downloading programs to PLC’s and HMI’s, monitor inputs and outputs in programs, and perform basic programming under the guidance of Engineering.

Compensation: $26-32 hourly base (DOE)
