Project Overview:
Bechtel’s focus on renewables and clean energy is helping our customers deliver transformational renewables and clean energy projects. Bechtel renewables team will perform the project management, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and startup for the Mammoth South, Central I and Central II project for a 376MW DC each (Total of 1.1GW DC) solar plant in Pulaski County, Indiana.
Job Summary:
In this role, you will play a critical role in supporting the planning, execution, and quality control of piling operations for utility-scale solar projects utilizing digital execution and delivery. You will coordinate technical efforts across disciplines to ensure piling work is completed safely, efficiently, and to engineering standards. This position requires field presence and an understanding of civil and structural aspects related to solar foundation systems, particularly driven piles.#LI-SP1
Major Responsibilities:
Work Planning & Packaging
• Coordinates the preparation of construction drawings, sketches, projections and schedules for workforce, material, and equipment requirements
• Contributes in planning construction methods and procedures.
• Coordinate with other discipline superintendents and field engineers for interface coordination of construction work activities and plans.
Material Management
• Initiates requisitions for field purchases
• Prepares quantity takeoffs of field purchased material and equipment.
• Reviews material receiving reports and performs material receiving inspections.
Quantities
• Verifies commodities on quantity tracking systems or other computer database systems as required.
Safety / Quality Control
• Ensures zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.
Technical
• Proactively considers continuous learning or show interest to pursue appropriate learning activities
• Supports construction engineers, discipline superintendents, foremen, and Craft Professionals, in interpreting engineering design documents, vendor documents, and other technical documents
• Develops firm understanding of system and area scoping and drawings required for package development.
• Builds system and area turnover packages both digitally and physically for turnover to startup and client.
Education and Experience Requirements:
• Required bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
• Collaboration with onsite and off site construction and engineering teams to implement the quality installation plan
• Strong Interface and coordination skills with other commodity teams to align piling progress with racking and module installation.
• Be a leader for a strong safety culture and adherence to the Zero Incident program across piling crews and subcontractors.
• Verify pile driving depths, verticality, refusal criteria, and testing per project specifications (e.g., design documents, pull tests).
• Interpret piling design documents and provide field guidance to subcontractors and craft professionals.
• Solution oriented in troubleshooting pile driving anomalies, refusal conditions, or design changes based on field performance and have experience with technical writing (FCD/NCR/RFI)
• Organize and assemble turnover packages for completed piling scopes, including testing records, as-builts, and inspections.
• Support integration of piling turnover into broader civil or mechanical system packages for commissioning handoff.
• Demonstrated commitment to Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H) and commitment to a Zero Incident safety program.
• Must be physically capable to conduct field inspections and participate in project walkdowns which require the following activities: extensive walking in and around a construction site, walking on uneven surfaces, and lifting up to 40 lbs.
• Basic to intermediate knowledge of EPC and EPCM construction programs, technologies, means, and methods.
• Familiarity with Bechtel Standard Applications (BSAPs), including Setroute, ArcGIS, Aconex, DSCS, and Unifier
• Basic to intermediate knowledge of supervisory functions relating to construction field activities.
• Familiarity with earthworks, roadwork, concrete, and piling methods and testing requirements.
