Job Description:
Summary
The Ludicrous Project at the Crusoe site in Abilene, TX is the largest undertaking in BWDG’s history. Design Group is leading the Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) scope for this groundbreaking, AI-driven data center. The facility, initially sized at 200MW with planned expansion to 1.2GW, is monumental in scale, speed, and technologicalinnovation—comparableto the Hoover Dam in its time
Design Group has been contracted to deliver the Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) for the Building Management System (BMS) and Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS), including the engineering, procurement, control system development and integration, on-site checkout, and commissioning of instruments and control elements along with functional system testing for key BMS systems such as chillers, air handling units, fan coil arrays, power distribution centers, transformers, UPS systems, feeder protection, and visualization and alarming for EPMS.
This project is driven by the largest and most competent Engineering Design and Construction firms in the industry. We are proud to have been invited to the party as the primary I&C and Systems Integration firm.
Responsibilities
Our Controls Engineer role is expected to include the following responsibilities:
• Ensure the successful deployment of a large greenfield data center. Project scopes include BMS and EPMS control system design, system programming and visualization development, control panel design and fabrication, instrumentation and control device procurement, system integration, and site commissioning support. Site commissioning includes:Provide installation support and guidance to trade partners for control system deploymentPerform full system I/O checkout for all major control systemsStatic checkoutsSystem power-up validation and testingDynamic checkoutPoint-to-point testing of all control instrumentation and components (PLC, DDC and SCADA visualization)Configuration and calibration of system controllers, control instrumentation and associated control devices.Configuration and testing of multiple communication protocolsand networks including Ethernet IP, Modbus TCP, Modbus RTU, BacNet, and FacNetDeploy, test, troubleshoot, and commission critical and ancillary control systemsDeployment and commissioning of Ignition applications

Role Expectations:
• Minimum 1-year commitment (or longer) with opportunity to move back to home officeRelocation support provided on both moves, there and back after commitment completeTeam members electing to relocate for one year or more for specified Data Center projects are eligible to receive an additional bonus
• Onsite rotation work schedule:10 days on rotation (includes travel)/4 days off rotationDesign Group provided daily lunch

• Commitment to safety andfollowing/demonstratingsafe work practices
• Control Systems Integration professional must reside in the vicinity of the data centers in order to provide timely reaction and response.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience
• Experience starting up control systems with experience with onsite time.
• Strong communicator and ability/desire to work within large teams
• Ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced, team-oriented environment
• Passionate about the success of their teams and their projects
• The Controls Engineer must reside in the vicinity of the data center project
