Wood is recruiting for an Electrical Engineer to join its Power Solutions, Projects business, focusing on high-voltage electrical substation design. This opportunity is hybrid from our West Palm Beach, FL office.

This role will support electrical engineering design and execution across a variety of utility Transmission & Distribution projects. The Electrical Engineer will serve as Professional of Record on projects, prepare power system studies, and provide technical leadership for equipment specification, construction packages, and interdisciplinary coordination.

Responsibilities
Carry out duties and responsibilities as assigned by the lead electrical engineer Lead discipline scope on small projects and electrical packages on large projectsAct as the electrical Professional of Record on assigned projectsAct as a discipline focal point as requiredCoordinate design with other engineering disciplinesReview, check and approve work output of discipline assigned personnel as requiredDevelop design deliverables including single lines, layouts, schematics, grounding, cable routing, and equipment specificationsSpecify and evaluate major electrical equipment including switchgear, transformers, MCCs, VFDs, and motorsCreate construction packages, IFC drawings, material lists and estimatesIdentify scope and schedule changes and assist with change managementConduct checking and independent review of discipline workProvide mentorship to junior team membersSupport construction and commissioning activities as needed
Qualifications
Expected:Electrical Engineering degree from a recognized universityMinimum 6 years of experience in Utility or EPCM environmentStrong communication and problem-solving skillsAbility to self-manage and work in team settingsValid driver’s license and ability to travel up to 10 days per yearDesirable:Familiarity with electrical engineering database tools such as SmartPlant Electrical or Aveva ElectricalSubstation design experience will be preferred.
