Wood is currently seeking an Electrical Designer to join our Eastern Canada Operations team who will provide engineering support through the application of extensive and comprehensive knowledge of electrical engineering design principles and practices in the performance of all electrical discipline design work across our Eastern Canada business.

Responsibilities

Plans and prioritizes work to meet client requirements and aligned with organizational goalsProvide engineering design expertise to deliver work scopes in line with company policies and proceduresProvide support to the business development process to identify and win new workPrepare and maintain estimates and schedulesDrive elimination of technical incidents through robust controls, incident reviews and embedding lessons learned in engineering design proceduresAssisting continuous improvement of design systems and tools required by the discipline to deliver cost effective and competitive design executionMaintain and assist in identifying scope and schedule changes in accordance with the Change Control ProcessEnsure that designs comply with the relevant Codes, Standards, Regulations and ProceduresReview and check work output of discipline assigned personnel, as requiredEnsure Health and Safety and environmental regulations are followed methodically

Qualifications

Technical diploma from a post-secondary institution 5+ years of experience in the Power Utility, Mining / Industrial and / or Renewable Energy sectors considered an assetExperience with AutoCAD and 3D Modelling packages would be an assetSolid knowledge of IEEE, ANSI, Canadian electric utility industry practices, CSA Standards and Local CodesExperience with LV, MV and HV applications would be an assetAttention to detail and pride in work qualityExcellent verbal, written communication skillsStrong client focusResourceful team player with self-starter aptitudeCurrent authorization to lawfully work in Canada without sponsorship from Wood is required
