Overview:
We are seeking aCommissioning Lead – Telecom & Cybersecurityto oversee the execution of telecom systems and industrial control system (ICS) cybersecurity commissioning activities for a major offshore energy project in Qatar. The role demands deep technical expertise, cross-disciplinary coordination, and a commitment to upholding the highest cybersecurity standards throughout commissioning.
This is a high-impact opportunity to play a critical role in the safe and timely execution of offshore infrastructure aligned with international security frameworks.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead commissioning of telecom and ICS cybersecurity systems ensuring alignment with project schedules and safety requirements (including SIMOPS).
• Monitor contractor and vendor activities including SATs, punch list clearance, and operational testing.
• Ensure strict adherence to cybersecurity practices based on IEC 62443 and internal policies.
• Oversee implementation of firewalls, network architecture (L2/L3/L3.5), and resolve technical issues.
• Supervise commissioning of telecom systems such as UHF/VHF radios, PAGA, CCTV, data LAN/WAN, telephone, RACON, ACS, and meteorological systems.
• Ensure fibre optic testing and commissioning are carried out correctly (OTDR, power meter).
• Review and approve commissioning plans and deliverables from EPC contractor.
• Track lessons learned related to telecom and cybersecurity commissioning activities.
• Coordinate across engineering, construction, commissioning, interface, and operations teams.
• Support start-up and performance testing on remote offshore platforms as needed.
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Applied Sciences or Engineering.
• Minimum 8 years of relevant experience, including at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
• Professional certifications such as CCNA, IEC 62443 highly desirable.
• Strong technical knowledge of ICS networks, endpoint security, backups, and fibre optic testing.
• Familiarity with commissioning database systems and documentation workflows.
• Proven experience managing vendors and subcontractors across fabrication yards and offshore sites.
• In-depth understanding of telecom packages and cybersecurity architecture in large-scale offshore projects.
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, datasheets, GA drawings, and procedures.
• Fluency in English with strong communication and coordination skills.
