Applications Engineer – Automotive in Japan

This is a multi-functional role looking after diverse engineering needs to craft solutions, and to deploy them worldwide. This role requires daily interaction with Test & Measurement customers, T&M Alliance Partners, T&M sales, and T&M Engineering Teams.
In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
• Pre-sales support and demand generationCreation and demonstration of technical proof of concepts and performance benchmarksQuick sales assistance, consulting, joint customer visit, web-meeting, and conference callsCollaborate with Field AEs, Business Managers, and Sales to assist in uncovering business opportunities
• Requirement gathering and planningCustomer-specific application work, proposal of system architectures and configurations, training planning and execution, and technical consulting for test solution and workflowIdentify technical challenges in projects as it relates to the customer outcomeCustomer requirements breakdowns for further analysisCollaborate with the customer to form and clarify technical outcome of the future stateCollect project requirements during pre-sales and project kick-offAssist in technical assessment for projectsAttend customer meetings (on-site when applicable) to better understand customer challenges and roadblocks to success
• Solution and system deliveryImplement customer or DUT-specific work (HW/SW)Communicate with program/project team members and connects technical leaders to the key customer outcomes of the projectLead on-site commissioning activitiesEnable strategic partners in being successful in execution of Partner prime opportunities
Who You Are:
You are a trusted technical advisor in a specific automotive domain for NI internal and external collaborators, customers, partners, and team members. You achieve this by understanding market trends, staying up-to-date with brand new technology, and being aware of customer workflows and challenges. You are a bold evangelist of NI solution and platform with presenting our value proposition to increase awareness of NI in automotive industry. You are a good collaborator in global team by learning and helping each other with your teammate located in not only Japan, Korea, and India, but also China, US and Europe countries.
For This Role, You Will Need:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math), or equivalent experience.
• Ability to work independently but also in a team of global colleagues.
• Willingness and motivation to work closely in a business setting, facing customers.
• Excellent communication skills in English and local language.
• Confident appearance and excellent presentation skills.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant industry experience in Software Engineering, Application Engineering, Test Solution Design, or ATE Test Development.
• Demonstrated ability to use one or more programming languages (LabVIEW, C#, C++, Python, etc.) in software design and implementation with deep understanding of Software Engineering Body of Knowledge.
• Strong at debugging and solving complex technical problems.
• Willing to travel domestically and abroad in support of project objectives.
Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:
• NI LabVIEW and/or NI TestStand Certifications, or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge and experience of NI products such as PXI/cRIO-based modules, VeriStand, TestStand, etc.
• Deep knowledge or strong background in Automotive technology (AD/ADAS, battery, motor, inverter), test automation, and measurement.
