Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will develop software solutions for Medium Voltage Drives used in Special Applications such as test stands, electric heating supplies, and grid simulators.You’lldesign and implement tailored systems, create concepts using ABB’sCrealizerplatform or PLC environments, and help improve tools and processes for efficient software engineering. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to innovative projects in a dynamic, collaborative environment.

This role is contributing to thedivision Motion High Power in Switzerland. Main stakeholders areSales, Tendering Engineering, Project Engineering, R&D and Project Management.

You will bemainly accountablefor:

• Designing and implementingtailored software solutions for customer-specific drive systems and project-specific Special Applications,utilizingABB’sCrealizerplatform or PLC-based environments
• Conductingfeasibility studies, emulations, and simulations in different environments, including offline simulations, digitaltwinsand Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL), across all project phases.
• Collaborating closelywith Stakeholdersto ensure seamless project execution, while providing technical support andparticipatingin customer meetings.
• Supporting orparticipatingintuning and commissioning activities for Special Applications, with approximately 5%travelrequired, ensuring high-quality delivery and customer satisfaction.
• Facilitatingcontinuous improvementby developing tools, processes, and best practices to enhance software engineering efficiency, engaging in professional development, andencouraginginnovation in collaboration with both internal teams and external partners.

Qualifications for therole

• You hold aMaster’sdegree (MSc) in Automation Engineering, Drive Technology, or a related field.
• Youpossessproficiencyin high-level programming languages such as Python, C++,Cand experience in MATLAB/Simulink. Experience with version control systems such as Git, and cloud platforms like Microsoft Azure, being a plus.
• You are familiar with PLC programming, especiallyCodeSys.
• Youpossessrecognizedknowledgein technical domains such as power electronics or automation.
• You arehighlycustomer-oriented andskilledin communication.
• Youdemonstrateleadership capabilities with amotivatedand collaborative mindset.
• You aremethodical, solution-driven, and thrive in dynamic environments, working in a results-oriented manner with a passion for innovation and quality, and you communicate confidently in both German and English.
