Wood is recruiting for a Principal Project Developer to join its Energy Assets & Technology team focusing on solar, wind and storage projects. This is an opportunity to join one of the Italian most established renewable energy Project Development teams and help develop renewable energy assets. The position will be based in Corsico (Milan) office, with the possibility to work from home up to two days per week.

The Role
The Principal Project Developer will support the Project Development team across the full development lifecycle of utility-scale grid connected solar and wind projects, in addition to innovative technology solutions such as battery storage and green hydrogen, from greenfield prospecting to construction-ready status. The candidate will be the main interface with external stakeholders such as landowners, government bodies, Transmission System Operator (TSO) and engineering designers, in addition to internal stakeholders, liaising with planning, legal, finance and administrative teams. Moreover the candidate will coordinate the assigned project team.

Responsibilities

The key objectives for this role are:

Conducting site surveys and pre-assessment evaluation of proposed area for the installation of renewable power plants
Developing new wind / solar business opportunities, focusing on innovative solutions (agro-photovoltaic power plants)
Following the negotiation of contracts with landowners and host community agreements with Municipalities
Managing relationships with stakeholders involved with the development process (statutory bodies, grid operator, internal departments, subcontractors, law firms)
Evaluating economic viability of projects (cost estimate and financial model) 
Evaluating integration of battery energy storage system with renewable power projects under development
Writing detailed technical / administrative documents for permit applications   
Reviewing all project documentation prepared by internal departments and external consultants
Using computer modelling software to assess energy production of projects and to design preliminary layout
Coordinating the assigned project team

Expected

Master’s degree in electrical / energetic / environmental engineering or environmental sciences
8/10 year’s experience in energy project permitting / development
deep knowledge of project development process (Wind, Solar, Storage)
good negotiation skills
knowledge of key legal documents, such as land option agreements
knowledge of the planning and connection process for renewable energy projects
excellent writing skills along with the ability to edit and proofread finished work product prepared by others
flexible, resourceful and able to work productively on multiple projects simultaneously under strict deadlines
Excellent written and verbal Italian and English language
detail-oriented  
strong team working attitude
knowledge of Microsoft Office tools (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
ability to travel both nationally and internationally for short / medium periods

Desirable

experience with GIS software, Autocad, PV case, PVSyst, windfarmer analyst
