Job Description

Wood is recruiting for a Lead Electrical Engineer to join its Offshore Brownfield Engineering business focusing on electrical engineering solutions for offshore brownfield projects. The office and opportunity are based in Metairie, LA.

The RoleAs a Lead Electrical Engineer, you will play a key role in managing electrical and instrumentation engineering efforts for offshore brownfield projects. You will lead multidisciplinary teams across locations, ensuring the delivery of high-quality engineering solutions while efficiently managing workshare with remote offices. Your responsibilities will span from conceptual design through execution, with a strong focus on safety, compliance, and innovation.

Responsibilities

Typical responsibilitiesLead and oversee all electrical and instrumentation engineering activities from concept through execution and closeoutManage multidisciplinary teams across global locations to deliver project scope efficientlyDevelop engineering deliverables including P&IDs, control system architectures, datasheets, and specifications in compliance with project and regulatory standardsDesign and implement control systems including PLC/DCS programming, HMI/SCADA development, and network architectureProvide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designersCollaborate with project managers to define scopes, schedules, and budgets, and monitor progressInterface with clients, regulatory agencies, and contractors to resolve technical issues and obtain approvalsParticipate in safety reviews such as HAZOP and SIL assessmentsConduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses to recommend optimal solutionsSupport procurement by reviewing vendor proposals and ensuring compliance with specificationsPromote a culture of safety, quality, and environmental responsibility in all engineering activities

It will take all of us working together to deliver solutions to the world’s most critical challenges.Expected:Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, instrumentation engineering, or related fieldMinimum of 10 years of experience in electrical and instrumentation engineering, preferably in offshore oil and gas projectsProven expertise in control system design and offshore production facility systemsProficiency in engineering software tools such as PLC/DCS programming, HMI/SCADA, and AutoCAD ElectricalStrong leadership and communication skills with experience managing multidisciplinary teamsFamiliarity with industry standards and regulations including API, ISO, and OSHADesirable:Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certificationAdvanced degree in a related field
