What You’ll Do:
As a Controls Design Engineer, you’ll be responsible for designing and developing advanced electrical control systems including PLC-based hardware, HMI programming, and machine vision solutions. You’ll lead medium-scale projects, troubleshoot complex system challenges, and help drive innovation in industrial automation.
Key Responsibilities:
System & Software Development
• Design electrical control systems and create wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and documentation.
• Develop PLC code from scratch, following industry best practices.
• Design and program Human-Machine Interfaces (HMI) to ensure seamless operator interaction.
• Integrate machine vision systems for automation and quality assurance.
Project Leadership
• Lead end-to-end project activities including design, implementation, testing, and commissioning.
• Collaborate with project managers to stay on schedule and within budget.
• Guide junior engineers and contribute to team development.
Client Engagement
• Communicate with customers to define requirements and provide tailored automation solutions.
• Perform site visits and provide hands-on support during system deployment and troubleshooting.
Documentation & Compliance
• Maintain accurate project documentation, including design files and change requests.
• Ensure compliance with electrical and safety codes, including risk assessments and mitigation.
What We’re Looking For:
Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in control system design and programming.
• Proficiency in PLC programming and HMI development, Rockwell/Allen Bradley highly preferred.
• Familiarity with machine vision integration and industrial robotics.
• Strong knowledge of automation safety standards and control circuits.
• Effective communicator with excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
Nice to Have:
• Exposure to SCADA, IoT, or machine learning in automation.
• PMP certification or hands-on project management experience.
• Experience working directly with customers in a solution-based role.
