Position Title:
Control and Instrumentation Engineer
Location:
UK – Farnborough
ROLE PURPOSE:
Design, implement, and manage process control and safety systems within a CAPEX/OPEX-driven industrial environment. Lead functional safety efforts, ensure compliance with regulatory and engineering standards, and provide technical leadership across the lifecycle of control and instrumentation (C&I) systems.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Design and implement process control systems and safety instrumented systems (SIS).
• Lead and manage small-scale control and instrumentation projects.
• Monitor and control CAPEX and OPEX budgets related to C&I scope.
• Oversee site functional safety initiatives and ensure SIS documentation compliance.
• Perform Safety Integrity Level (SIL) verification for safety systems.
• Specify, test, and commission upgrades for SIS and control systems.
• Ensure compliance of hazardous area instrumentation with relevant standards and regulations.
• Provide advanced technical support for fault diagnosis and implement remedial measures.
• Supervise contractors and lead C&I activities across engineering phases, from design to commissioning.
• Support procurement activities including technical specification, vendor evaluation, and coordination.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Relevant engineering degree in Instrumentation, Control, or a related discipline.
EXPERIENCE:
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in instrumentation and control design.
• Proven experience in the full engineering lifecycle: design, installation, testing, and commissioning.
• Field troubleshooting and hands-on leadership in industrial environments.
• Strong knowledge of hazardous area equipment design (CompEx 12A & 12B preferred).
• Familiar with control systems programming and modern industry standards.
• Experience in managing engineering risks through tools such as HAZOP, HAZID, LOPA, and RAMS.
