Location: Regensburg

We are seeking an experiencedSenior Power Electronics Design Engineerwith a strong background inpower electronicsandhigh-power converter operation. You will lead thedevelopmentandvalidationof Schneider Electric’s “Smart converter” technologies, while working on Direct-Connected-Modular-Medium-Voltage-Converterand innovativepower electronicstechnology solutions.

Your work field:

• Design,development, andvalidationof power electronic converter modules (converter submodules) for medium-voltage applications.
• Specification ofkey power electroniccomponentsanddatasheet analysisof parts, considering lead time, availability, price, second sourcing and qualification.
• Contributing toloss analysisandthermal modellingfor converter submodules, and definition of requirements for the converter cooling systems.

• Design and maintenance ofback-to-back testrigsfor validating power converter technology under realistic operating conditions.
• Preparingthetest specificationsfor back-to-back test rigs.
• Laboratory testingof power converter submodules, e.g.,switching tests,heat runs, etc.
• Supporting the convertercontrol algorithm developmentteam (models based onMATLAB/Simulink) with innovative solutions.
• Supporting the development team withHiLtest specifications.

• Writingdesign reportsandmaintenanceof technical databases/repositories.

Your profile:

• Degree inElectrical Engineering(MSc or PhD in Electrical Engineering would be preferred).
• Severalyearsexperienceof power converter design, test, manufacturing, and field issues.
• Simulation experienceof power converters and sub systems, including detailed knowledge of simulation tools such asMATLAB/Simulink,PLECS, etc.
• Knowledge and understanding ofmedium voltage designandcontrol issues.

• Experience ofarchitecturaloptionanalysis,trade-offand selection includingpower topology.
• Ability topresent resultsin a clear and concise manner, includingtechnical report writing.

• Optional:

• Experience of working withhigh power converters (1 MW+).

• Good knowledge ofMultilevel Converters.
• Ability to performFMECA analysis.
• Knowledge in the field ofsystem availabilityandMTBF prediction.
