Honeywell Aerospace offers an opportunity for a talented Structural and Mechanical Design Engineer to join the Space team in Brno, Czech Republic. The team is responsible for the inception, development, and transition of new technologies into existing or future Honeywell products, and assisting in the development of new markets, products, or services. The Honeywell team in Brno consists of more than 600 employees, which are highly skilled professionals working on exciting novel aeronautical and space technologies.

We are looking for a Mechatronics intern with strong design capabilities to support design activities of various space mechanisms. As a member of cross-functional team, you will work on early stage of technology development, from initial concepts up to flight worthy hardware demonstrated by analyses and testing in relevant environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Execution of various tasks from the field of electro-mechanical actuation and mechatronics in space domains.
• Modeling and designing the system level concepts and validating those by analyses and laboratory testing.
• Contribution to system architecture definitions, trade-off analyses, system modelling and simulations, and performance assessment.

Key requirements

• Mechatronics or Aerospace Engineering.
• Understanding of systems with mechanisms and electro-mechanical components, understanding of general mechanical design practices.
• Design capabilities in domain of electro-mechanical systems.
• Orientation and knowledge of FEA structural analyses (static, modal, vibration response analysis – random vibration, harmonic, shock)
• Good command of English.

We value

• Experience with analytical modeling and simulation of mechanical systems for performance assessment.
• Orientation and knowledge of FEA structural analyses (static, modal, vibration response
• Fatigue analysis of solids, bolt joints and rivet joints is a plus
• Experience in CAD Modeling (NX/CREO).
• Knowledge of ECSS / NASA standards and guidelines is highly advantageous.
• Knowledge of control engineering is a plus
• Experience with aerospace mechanisms or mechanisms for space or vacuum applications is high advantage.
