This is a client-side position (not an EPC contractor role), focused on pre-commissioning of FPSO topsides at a fabrication yard.

Role Overview
The FPSO Topside Pre-Commissioning Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring that topsides are mechanically complete, tested, and verified to the highest standards before offshore commissioning begins. The position requires close coordination with engineering, operations, and contractor teams to safeguard schedule, cost, quality, and safety. You will be responsible for oversight of EPC contractor delivery.
Key Responsibilities

Ensure FPSO topsides are mechanically complete and prepared for pre-commissioning.

Review and approve contractor documentation including procedures, inspection reports, certificates, and handover dossiers.

Monitor progress against schedule, track KPIs, and identify risks or delays.

Manage and close punch list items across all categories.

Conduct inspections to verify installation quality, material handling, and compliance with safety standards.

Verify that pre-commissioning work packs align with installed systems.

Review and validate contractor procedures for flushing, pressure testing, chemical cleaning, and functional testing.

Approve or reject technical deviations to protect safety, integrity, and operability.

Raise and track NCRs for deviations in quality or workmanship.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (process, piping, electrical, instrumentation, marine, and operations).
Attitude & Accountabilities

Ensure full compliance with technical requirements and industry standards.

Guarantee accurate and complete pre-commissioning records, reports, and as-builts for operational handover.

Act as the client’s representative in safeguarding schedule, cost, quality, and operational integrity.

Contribute to a strong safety culture and environmental compliance during all activities.
Candidate Profile
-
Experience: Minimum 15 years’ professional experience, with at least 7–10 years in pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up of large-scale oil & gas facilities (FPSO experience strongly preferred).

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Instrumentation, Process, or equivalent).

Background: Previous client-side or owner’s team experience is desirable. Strong exposure to fabrication yards, offshore projects, and topside integration.

FPSO/FLNG/offshore facilities

Hull structures, marine systems, topside processing, and utilities

Punch list management, NCRs, and commissioning procedures

Excellent problem-solving and decision-making ability

Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills

Proven reporting and progress tracking capability

Languages: Fluent in English (Chinese and French an advantage).

Location: Based in Tianjin with potential travel to other shipyards

Schedule: Residential, 6 days per week
