Primary responsibilities:

• Commissioning and integrating AMR systems at client facilities throughout Europe, including on-site deployment and integration with facility-side automation equipment.
• Designing detailed solutions for AMR systems using OTTO Motors products to meet customer requirements, including workflow design, attachment design, map design, and developing/modifying middle layer software logic using Ignition OPC/UA and/or PLC logic.
• Authoring and executing acceptance test plans to validate system functionality and performance.
• Optimizing system performance through analysis, simulation, and experimentation.
• Planning project deliverables and work packages.
• Communicating technical details and status updates to customers and the broader project team.
• Consulting with integration partners on all technical aspects.
• Delivering training to integration partners and end-users.
• Troubleshooting software and hardware technical issues using internal tools and solving challenging technical problems.
• Traveling for business within Europe, and occasionally to North America, with a travel commitment of approximately 40-50%.

Additional responsibilities:

• Authoring new product requirements based on lessons learned from design and commissioning activities.
• Working with the systems engineering team to improve departmental tools, processes, and collaboration with other departments.
• Supporting technical setup and optimization of workflows at trade shows.

Required background:

• 3+ years of relevant work experience.
• 3+ years of experience commissioning and integrating industrial automated equipment or software interfacing with equipment.
• College/university diploma or degree in engineering, design, or industrial controls.
• Experience working directly with clients/end-users.
• Experience troubleshooting and repairing electro-mechanical systems/subsystems.

Required skills:

• Interpretation and design analysis of mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.
• PLC design and integration experience.
• Demonstrated ability to work with Linux.
• Strong planning and organizational skills.
• Strong business language skills in English, both verbal and written.
• Self-motivated and organized with a keen eye for detail.

Bonus points:

• Experience with AMR/AGV systems integration.
• Experience training users of automated equipment/software.
• Proficiency in authoring and modifying software code (Python, C++, or other).
• Experience with Inductive Automation Ignition OPC/UA software.

Location:

• This role is based in Bologna, Italy, and requires significant travel within the Europe region. Flexibility to travel internationally, including to North America for training, is essential.
