Job Description

Wood is currently recruiting for System and Information Engineer to strengthen our team in Basra, Iraq 5/2, we are only considering applications from local Iraqi nationals preferably residing in Iraq, Basra.
The System & Information Engineer will play a critical role in the Surface Technical Department by managing and optimizing information systems related to the oil and gas operations. This position focuses on ensuring the integrity, availability, and optimal performance of the data management systems used to support surface operations. The engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to enhance data accessibility, improve data quality, and support decision-making processes through effective information management practices.

Responsibilities

assessing systems, determining problems, providing solutions to issues that arise, designing systems, upgrading systems, maintaining systems and brainstorming possible improvements that can be made to a system in the future.
 Develop, implement, and maintain information management systems specific to surface operations in the oil and gas sector.
Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and analyze requirements for information systems and data management needs.
Design and optimize databases, data workflows, and reporting tools to ensure accurate and timely access to operational data.
Ensure compliance with data governance standards and maintain data integrity and quality across various platforms.
Provide technical support and training to end-users on information systems and data management tools.
Monitor system performance and coordinate upgrades and improvements to enhance functionality.
Manage documentation related to system architecture, data flows, and procedures.
Work with IT teams to troubleshoot issues and ensure system security and reliability.
Participate in projects to implement new technology solutions that improve operational efficiency and data-driven decisions.
Assist in developing and maintaining dashboards and reporting tools that provide insights into surface operations performance.
Analyze data trends and provide actionable insights to management for strategic decision-making.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
At least 5 years of experience in systems engineering or information management, preferably in the oil and gas industry.
Strong understanding of data management principles, database design, and data analytics.
Familiarity with oil and gas surface operations, including relevant technical terminology and processes.
Proficiency in data tools and software (e.g., SQL, Python, Excel, business intelligence tools like Tableau or Power BI).
Knowledge of data governance policies and practices.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with various stakeholders.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
Certifications relevant to data management or information systems (e.g., ICDL, PMP…)
Experience with cloud-based data solutions and implementations.
 Good English speaking and writing skills
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently 
Able to prioritize multiple tasks 
Demonstrate critical analytical and strong written
Interpersonal skills
