Job Description

We are looking for an accomplishedSoftware Engineering Managerto lead the development of a software project team for process control for factory Industrial Automation. You are well versed in Agile practices, is customer-focused, likes building teams, has experience managing technical development teams. You will collaborate with a global team.

You will manage the team doing design and developing new software features, participating in the full development lifecycle of several projects using different technology stacks, across desktop, on-prem and cloud. Development is performed in a team environment using sound engineering and software development practices and technology, and typically involves complex system design or product architecture design. Responsibilities include collaborating with and influencing multiple teams, and technical leadership of a large development team or leading technical aspects of a multi-team project. You will also manage the campus responsibilities and activities. This requires flexibility with different tasks to be done.

You will report to the VP, software engineering and work from our Phoenix, Arizona, office.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for the continued development and of a high-performing software development group that delivers product to our customers – experience building a team and hiring are critical
• Responsibilities include management of the team involved in full software development lifecycle, working with product management on roadmaps and driving lean/agile practices and culture.
• Participating in the execution of product development and delivery strategies – “leader” in the software discipline
• Responsible for multifunctional software group of 10-20 employees across multiple locations.
• Recruit, develop, and review, department personnel – experience building new teams is critical
• Establish and maintain budgets, product development plans, schedules and procedures required to accomplish department goals and achieve customer-focused outcomes.
• Work with peer managers to improve development processes, ensuring quality products delivered, predictable manner – “make Rockwell better”
• Handle critical problems, decisions, and escalations and mitigate risks.
• Ensure the right people are in the right job, and build succession plans.Create leader opportunities. Lead independently.
• Ensure product development activities comply with corporate and business-level processes.
• Work with Product Manager to maintain a product roadmap and lead commitments.
• Help the team think and create a continuous improvement mindset.

THE ESSENTIALS – YOU WILL HAVE:

• Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent Relevant Experience
• Legal authorization to work in the US is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.

THE PREFERRED – YOU MIGHT ALSO HAVE:

• Bachelors in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other relevant degree
• Typically requires 5 years of experience in software engineering management.
• Experience in software product development and the release of software systems for regulated industries.
• Technical and people leadership experience.
• Experience developing early career talent into effective technical and people leaders.
• Experience in diverse tech stacks, including Object Oriented Programing, C/C++, TypeScript/JavaScript and multiple web stacks.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum, in a Scaled Agile Framework.
• Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, testing, and operations
• Experience in industrial automation product development or related technical areas, including background with large-scale system development projects.
• Knowledge of software test methodologies and automated test tools
• Experience working with global team members on multi-campus product development.
