YOUR ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Energy Industries Division serves a wide range of industrial sectors, including hydrocarbons, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, power generation and water. With its integrated solutions that automate, digitalize and electrify operations, the Division is committed to supporting traditional industries in their efforts to decarbonize. The Division also supports the development, integration and scaling up of new and renewable energy models. Our goal is to help customers adapt and succeed in the rapidly changing global energy transition. We empower our customers to achieve power stability and reliability through solutions and services based on the latest excitation and rectifier technologies. Your responsibilities: • You design, develop, and implement analog and digital circuits from concept phase to serial production, both for up-keep of existing products as well as new product developments • Your tasks include creation of schematics and definition of constraints for PCB layout, definition of verification specifications and execution of verification activities of your designs by simulation and prototype testing, as well as documentation and handover of the developed technologies with subsequent implementation support in production engineering • You collaborate closely with system architects and software developers to breakdown system requirements to requirement specifications for hardware. • You monitor technology developments and product technologies to identify technical drivers for R&D projects, supported by your thorough understanding of key business drivers for ABB’s products and solutions • You participate in internal and external networks to expand your knowledge of your area of expertise • You take responsibility for hardware development activities, as (senior) member, including risk identification, alignment with targets, and close coordination with suppliers and other functions (e.g. product management) • You contribute to discussions of intellectual property and secure patent rights for ABB by driving the IP creation • You present good understanding of PCBA manufacturing process & test infrastructure Work model: hybrid #LI-Hybrid

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ROLE

• Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems, or related field
• 5 years of work experience with control HW designer for both High power and Low Power circuits
• At least 2 years of experience in development of electronics within embedded systems as a Hardware Design Engineer
• Familiarity with tools: Altium Designer, PSpice, Matlab
• Sound knowledge in designing electronic circuits, circuit diagrams, and simulation tools
• Knowledge in EMC compatible design
• Fluency in English; German language skills (B2) are beneficial but not a prerequisite
• Experience with any of the tools will be an advantage : CR-8000, Windchill risk and reliability, PLECS TINA-TI
