Job Description
A minimum of 5 years previous QC experience in a technical field, of which at least 5 years were in the Petrochemical industry, together with knowledge of ISO 9001: 2008 requirements
Significant experience in Quality Control activities within front end engineering and design, detailed design, and construction activities.
Participate in the overall Company Management Review process.
Understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993, PER and SANS 347.
Strong knowledge of inspection techniques, tools, and equipment.
Familiarity with quality control standards and regulations.
Excellent attention to detail and strong observational skills.
Responsibilities
Where required attend kick-off meetings with contractors, suppliers and establish how the defined quality requirements are to be implemented.Where required review how contractors and suppliers plan to control the quality requirements for suppliers and contractors.Assume the duties of the Principal Quality Inspector when so directed.Be aware of and comply with Inspection Procedures.Be aware of and comply with the requirements of Licensors’, Clients’ and Secrecy Agreements.Be aware of and comply with company policies, manuals, contract execution procedures, contract execution work practices and project specific procedures for quality.Observe the requirements of the Inspection section of the Procurement Contract Execution Procedure and all specified inspection standards and procedures.Review Suppliers documentation and Quality Control Plans in accordance with individual Project requirements, when required.Liaise with Client and/or outside inspection body in all cases where inspection is to be carried out jointly.Carry out inspection of equipment and materials in accordance with purchase orders, requisitions and their referenced specifications, codes, standards, procedures and inspection plans.Complete inspection reports on the correct forms immediately following all visits to Suppliers’ works and forward to the appropriate office(s) without delay.Complete and forward to the appropriate office a signed copy of the ‘Inspection Request’ immediately on the successful completion of the final inspection.Maintain planned itinerary and arrange that, as far as is practicable, contact by telephone or Email is made with Home Office during working hours. Report actual itinerary each week.Report on status of manufacture of equipment and material at Suppliers’ works, when and as directed by the Manager Quality Control or Principal Quality Inspector.Be aware of, and report to the Manager Quality Control, any improvement or deterioration in manufacturing facilities of established Suppliers.Do not enter into commercial discussions with suppliers.Uphold the good name of WOOD and of WOOD’s clients when dealing with suppliers and maintain confidentiality. Do not disclose to suppliers or comment on any differences under discussion within WOOD or between WOOD and it’s clients.
Qualifications
Qualifications:Minimum accredited Tertiary qualification discipline field of study. Knowledge, skills and experience:A minimum of 5 years previous QC experience, preferably in the Petrochemical and Construction contracting industry, together with knowledge of ISO 9001: requirements. It is recommended that he / she have a working knowledge of Act 85 of 1993, PER and SANS 347.Understanding of various design codes and various international standards.Personal attributes:Excellent organisational skills.Excellent communication skills.elationship
