PROJECT OVERVIEW:

TROJENA (The Mountains of NEOM) will be an iconic, world-class destination, blending natural and developed landscapes and will offer unique experiences for residents and visitors alike. Located in the northwest of Saudi Arabia in the region of Tabuk just 50km from the coast, TROJENA will be a destination like no other on earth. Based upon the principles of eco-tourism facilities will include a folded vertical village, a lake with water sports and event facilities, high altitude ski village, observatory, world leading health and wellbeing facilities and a nature reserve which will be home to unique wildlife, heritage sites and exploration opportunities.

With over 3,600 hotel, 2,200 homes, 9 iconic buildings and 100 world class indoor and outdoor experiences Trojena will become the ultimate mountain destination. Bechtel will provide a full range of project management services to assist the delivery of this iconic destination.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Senior Project Manager – Discover Tower will be assigned to the Bechtel PMC organization, responsible for managing all aspects related to the Explore Cluster area including design constructability, interfaces, setting up the project strategy for the procurement of subcontracts and manage the design, build, operate, insure, and maintain contracts awarded by the client. The centerpiece of the Discover Cluster scope is the high end Discover Tower, a luxurious mixed use luxury high-rise structure.

The Senior Project Manager Implements ES&H and Quality programs whilst maintaining effective relationships when interfacing with stakeholders.

The position demands demonstrated knowledge of high-rise construction, engineering and procurement, and other project related activities, including their interfaces and interdependencies and implement a variety of management processes and monitor the project progress in an efficient, timely, and cost-effective manner.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for Bechtel PMC activities pertaining to delivery of assigned scope of works, maintaining the highest standards with respect to safety, quality, progress, and the performance of the works
• Managing the teams (PMC), subcontractors and third parties to ensure the delivery of the works
• Lead the project team at the assigned area of works
• Implement Bechtel’s Zero Accident Philosophy, and ensure contractor’s compliance to the project ES&H plans, site security plan, traffic plans, emergency response plan, housekeeping, fire protection and jobsite work rules
• Lead the ES&H implementation activities, conduct joint safety inspections with Contractor’s senior staff and participate in the clients’ ES&H programs
• Implement project quality management plans, ensure contractors compliance to project quality requirements and the works are executed as per IFC drawings, standards, codes, and project specifications
• Support client in formation of contract strategy for the procurement of subcontracts, including bid evaluation and negotiations
• Manage the contracts awarded by client and ensure that the contractual obligations are met by the contractors
• Support the client in contract negotiation process with contractors when changes occur
• Review and approve camp related project plans, schedules, progress reports
• Manage all aspects of the project scope from design constructability, design interfaces and execution of the works
• Ensure that the plans and procedures are in place for all engineering, procurement, construction activities and ensures their compliance including strict adherence to local and national regulatory codes, ES&H, and quality requirements
• Responsible for the overall execution of works, meeting compliance requirements, contractual and customer requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• A recognized bachelor’s or master’s degree in Architecture or Civil / Structural Engineering is preferred
• Minimum 20 years of professional experience, or 25 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

• Progressive experience in handling construction of large-scale, high rise projects with supervisory / managerial experience in leadership roles either in a Contractor or Project Management Consultant management role
• Thorough knowledge of international standards and specification and codes as applicable to high-rise construction of luxury, high end, architecturally led structures including various safety procedures and practices associated with the construction works such as ACI, ASTM, NFPA, Saudi Building Code and International Building Code
• Experience of working in mountainous terrains, in construction of region connecting projects such as roads, rails, related utilities and other infrastructures like camps, approaches, lifestyle buildings etc.,
• Thorough knowledge of high-rise building construction requirements and codes of practice
• Has proven experience and thorough knowledge in managing design, procurement, build and maintain contracts of large-scale projects and associated facilities including the interfaces and interdependencies.
• Experience in the leadership, implementation and monitoring of ES&H and quality management systems.
• Experience on resolution of contracts administration and managing contractors’ performance.
• Experience in KSA / Middle east / GCC is preferred.
• High degree of communication and interpersonal skills including time management, decision-making, and ability to pay attention to detail with good physical strength and stamina to maintain a positive work environment between parties including the Client, Contractors, and other stakeholders throughout the project life cycle.
• Self-motivated individual with ability to work independently and exercise professional judgment, with a passion to take ownership of projects and provide sound technical leadership to the team and contractors.
• Mentor, motivate, manage, and act as a role-model for the team and contractors in terms of behaviors and values and monitor their performance
