Wood is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Protection and Control Engineer in Calgary, AB or Edmonton, AB to join our busy and growing Oil & Gas Canada team due to growth in our business!

Responsibilities

To carry out duties and responsibilities as assigned by the lead electrical engineer• Execute engineering activities (Concept, Front End Engineering Development, Technical Study & Detailed Design).
Act as a discipline focal point as required.
Maintain the required technical quality of work.
Ensure that designs comply with the relevant Codes, Standards, Regulations and Procedures.
Develop protection, control, and metering system design for electrical substations ranging from 13.8kV to 240kV.
Develop protection & Control one-lines, schematics, panel layouts and wiring diagrams for power system protective relaying and metering systems.
Develop and implement protection and SCADA systems for substation projects.
Perform protection coordination studies and relay settings.
RTU and SCADA programming.
Develop specifications for Protection and Control including Pre-commissioning, commissioning procedures and operating philosophies. 
Programming using software for utility-based relay and RTU including SEL, Siemens, INIVEN Tele-protection etc.
Cost estimates and Material take offs.
Mentoring junior engineers.

Qualifications

Electrical Engineering Degree from a recognized university along with the ability to register as a Professional Engineer in Canada.
Minimum of 10 years engineering experience, including minimum of 5 years with 13.8kV to 240KV Utility substations in Alberta and BC.
Experience in an electrical utility environment is must.
Professional Engineer designation with EGBC and in Alberta.
Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
Strong understanding of regulatory codes and standards, including CSA, NESC, and ANSI / IEEE.
Understanding of the Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO) as well as BC Hydro system (and applicable utility in BC) or Ontario Electrical System Operator (IESO) as well as WECC requirement. 
138 kV & 240kV Switch station experience is preferred. 
Familiar with Programming software for utility-based relays and RTU including SEL, Siemens, INIVEN Tele-protection etc.
