Overview:
We’re currently supporting a multinational industrial technology organisation in their search for an experiencedSenior Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Engineerto join their engineering team inOlen, Belgium. This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of the E&I scope on large-scale investment projects, with values up to €30 million, contributing to pioneering energy and materials transition initiatives.
Role Summary:
This position will suit a hands-on engineer with the ability to lead E&I activities throughout the full project lifecycle – from feasibility studies and specification, to commissioning and handover. The role is technically demanding and requires a deep understanding of electrical systems and instrumentation in industrial environments. You’ll collaborate with project managers, internal engineering teams, and external contractors to ensure successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead the E&I engineering scope from concept through commissioning
• Make material and technical choices suitable for demanding environmental and operational conditions
• Review and interpret schematics and cable calculations (e.g., from Caneco)
• Ensure compliance with ATEX, SIL, PL, and Exi standards for electrical safety and explosion protection
• Oversee low-voltage electrical work, with basic high-voltage understanding
• Prepare specifications, tender documentation, and oversee budget and timeline tracking
• Support process equipment and installations (e.g., related to energy storage and advanced materials)
• Engage with internal and external stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle
• Provide functional oversight of instrumentation and electrical integration
• Occasional international travel (Europe/Asia) for project site follow-up
Candidate Requirements:
Technical Experience:
• Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent with at least 7 years of relevant experience
• Extensive background in industrial instrumentation and electrical engineering
• Familiarity with Caneco for cable calculations
• Capable of interpreting electrical schematics (EPLAN experience is beneficial)
• In-depth knowledge of ATEX regulations and safety compliance (SIL, PL, Exi)
• Industrial project delivery experience in a multidisciplinary environment
Soft Skills:
• Self-driven, independent, and solution-oriented approach
• Effective communicator, able to work across disciplines
• Comfortable in a fast-paced and technically complex environment
• Basic familiarity with automation hardware (no programming required)
• Willingness to travel occasionally
Languages:
• Dutch and English (fluent)
Location & Attendance:
• Based full-time onsite at the Olen facility (no remote work option)
