Project Overview:

Career opportunity available for a self-motivated, high performing Fab Area Control Systems Engineer, with a proven track record in the design and construction of semiconductor manufacturing facilities, also known as Fabs. The Fab Area Control Systems Engineer is a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and will join the engineering discipline of Control Systems Engineering (CSE) within Manufacturing and Technology (M&T) GBU. The candidate has expert level knowledge and understanding of Fab control networks, instrumentation, and valves for a large industrial semiconductor project. The SME role provides the highest level of expertise, technical leadership and expertise in the design, development, and optimization of control systems and instrumentation for semiconductor facilities. The role is critical to the business growth and successful delivery of M&T projects. This role has responsibility to identify, develop and incorporate industry leading practices, processes and tools and to provide training and development of our engineering and construction professionals. Job Summary:

In this role, you will conduct field investigations and client interviews to determine work scope and cost estimates for a project’s control systems aspects. You will lead design, development, modification, and evaluation of control systems components and processes. Your recommendations will resolve technical issues and ensure unique and complex requirements of a project’s control systems aspects are met.#LI-M

“This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and may require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership”

Major Responsibilities:

• Plans and conducts independent on Control Systems work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application, and adaptation of on Control Systems engineering techniques, procedures and criteria on a medium size project or assignment in support of a global business unit​
• Leads the design, development, modification and evaluation of mechanical components and processes utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs)​
• Communicates complex technical issues and recommends solutions to upper management​
• Develops conceptual designs for Control Systems engineering projects or projects having specialized or unique requirements​
• Supports preparation of estimates, staffing needs and schedules​
• Prepares or oversees the preparation of discipline estimates and work plan in accordance with project scope, schedule and budget, and supports implementation and assists with performance reporting​
• Interprets new or special regulations, codes, standards, criteria, and performance data​
• Coordinates with client representatives, as directed, to obtain their approval of on Control Systems aspects of the work​
• Conducts or leads special studies of new Control Systems engineering methods, materials and techniques​
• Mentors Control Systems engineering personnel by providing on-the-job training for their professional development​. Provides input to and participates in special technical educational and training programs as directed

Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:

• 10+ years of Semiconductor new build design
• Deep understanding of semiconductor fab area control networks and instrumentation on large scale semiconductor facilities
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Control Systems
• Demonstrated ability to direct and mentor teams to successful outcomes
• Excellent communication and people skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences
