JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The incumbent will be the technical lead, design, engineering, testing and commissioning of Hight Voltage (HV) Substation Protection & Automation projects as well as providing field services support for Protection & Automation installed base in in China East Asia Pacific (CEAP) region.

Job Description
• Design and Engineering of Substation (Secondary) Protection and Automation projects in CEAP region per customers’ specification and requirements as technical lead. Accountable protection panel design review, protection study, settings calculation, configuration of protection Intelligent Electronic Devices (IEDs), Factory Acceptance test/Site Acceptance Test (FAT/SAT) testing and site commissioning.
• Work closely with Engineering Manager and Project Manager for project execution plan and timely completion of projects.
• Examine feasibility of offered solutions during design study and reviews, identify opportunities or improvement changes to improve design, performance and quality standards.
• Able to troubleshoot, inspect and resolve complex issues at site. Provide necessary technical details and improvement recommendations to R&D for software improvement or issues fix on IEDs.
• Collaborate with other engineering teams and contractors as a technical expert for substation protection and automation for coordinated execution of turnkey projects.
• Maintain traceable records (Technical Notes) of the basis for any Electrical – Protection & Automation design decisions based on specifications and standards.
• Assist Service Team work orders on Protection & Automation installed base in the region – On site extension scopes, troubleshoot issues, product firmware/software upgrading services etc.
• Establish and maintain good customer relation with both existing and new customers in the region.
• Provide technical expert assistant for Grid Automation sales and tendering
Qualifications/Requirements
• Degree in Engineering (Electrical)
• Min 8 years of experience in HV Substation Protection & Automation engineering and project execution
• Expert level knowledge in Protection application, settings calculation and testing & commissioning of HV Substation protection (Line Differential/Distance, Transformer Differential, HV Busbar Differential, Breaker failure, Overcurrent/ Earth Fault (OC/EF), Generator and Motor protections etc.)
• Knowledge in communication protocols – IEC61850, MODBUS, DNP3, IEC101/104, IEC103
• Worked with IEDs, Remote Terminal Units (RTUs) and Systems integration in IEC61850 communication protocol
• Expert level knowledge and experienced in GE Grid Automation MiCOM and UR range protection IEDs
• Able to travel extensively for factory/site testing
• Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
