Our Automation & Digitalization division is currently seeking an Electrical & Controls Project Engineer or Technologist to join our Terrace, BC office. This position would be responsible for the design, development, and delivery of high-quality, innovative electrical and control engineering projects that improve plant productivity, reliability, and sustainability for our North American customers.
Responsibilities may include but are not necessarily limited to the following:
• Collaborate with customers and coworkers to solve the customer’s operational challenges and support their system upgrade projects;
• Audit industrial facilities and develop preliminary engineering designs and estimates for electrical and control system upgrades;
• Design industrial LV and MV electrical power systems, including equipment specifications, motor control and grounding systems, cable and raceway sizing and layouts, and electrical room design;
• Prepare and evaluate tender and construction packages, including electrical and instrumentation drawings, installation specifications, and other supporting documentation;
• Complete electrical, control and instrumentation system design including P&ID drawings, control system and network architecture, and instrumentation systems;
• Design control strategies to optimize performance, and program and configure DCS and PLC/HMI applications;
• Perform system checkout, testing, and commissioning.
When selecting candidates, we will be looking for the following essential skills, abilities, and experience:
• Bachelor’s degree or technology diploma in electrical engineering;
• Experience in industrial automation engineering an asset;
• Experience in pulp & paper; mining and/or chemical industries an asset;
• Resourceful, self-managed, and goal driven but still able to work effectively in a team;
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills (English);
• Registered as a P.Eng/EIT or AScT in British Columbia;
• Practical knowledge of North American standards;
• Legally entitled to work in Canada;
• Ability and willingness to travel to domestic and international sites (typically 5-20%).
Other valued, but non-essential skills, abilities, and experience include:
• Consulting engineering experience;
• Site audit, commissioning, construction, and start-up experience.

Salary range 71,000 to 115,000; commensurate with experience, based on a 37.5 hour work week.
