THIS POSITION REPORTS TO
Application Engineering Manager
YOUR ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• ABB Distributed Control Systems (DCS) engineer, design and support for Energy Industry customers in Canada. • Manage technical aspect of projects from manufacturing to Factory Acceptance Test, final on-site commissioning, and upgrades. • Design and maintain industrial networks, physical and virtual switch VLANs, cyber security management such as patch application and control system software security updates. • ABB Control system logic and HMI graphics programming and troubleshooting. • ABB Control system HMI network setup and troubleshooting. • ABB Control system panel design and testing. • Coordinates with Manufacturing and Testing functions to ensure the technical solutions are appropriately manufactured/ staged and tested • Coordinates with Commissioning / Service functions to ensure the designs are appropriately installed and commissioned. • Prepares project documentation within Project’s scope of deliverables including as-builts. • Follows work plans and cost estimates provided by the Project Manager and ensures quality deliverables on time and at targeted cost • Ensures that engineering activities comply with required safety regulations and contractual requirements. • Reports any contract / safety / quality / program / cost issues to Project Manager for resolution. • Collaborates with the Supply Chain function and the Project Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ROLE
• 7 – 10 years of engineering related work experience with control systems
• Engineering degree and registered with a Canadian Engineering association
• Excellent written and verbal communications as well as computer skills
• Ability to interface effectively with end user customers, consultants, equipment suppliers and contractors
• Experience with ABB 800xA control systems setup and programming
• Industrial networking knowledge and protocols experience (Profibus, Modbus, TCP/RTU etc)
• Experience with ABB Digital products (PMS, FIM, …etc.)
• Experience with virtualization using VMware, ESXi hosts and Hyper-V
• Experience with water and wastewater treatment facility processes
• AutoCAD Mechanical/Electrical design experience in DCS control and IO cabinets
• Ability to travel for occasional trips to project sites
