Job Description

Wood is currently recruiting for an Intermediate Project Engineer with oil and gas experience, to join our St. John’s, NL team. This individual will have excellent skills in task management, organization, and attention to detail. This position will require the candidate to have a strong technical background in the oil and gas market with a preference for offshore experience. The position will be based out of Wood’s St. John’s, NL office and will involve periodic travel to the offshore FPSO.  
As the Project Engineer, you will be responsible for developing the proposal and plans that will be used to execute Engineering deliverables, to meet the needs of our clients. To aid in your success Wood has a cross-functional team of discipline Engineers, Designers and Technical Support staff. You must use the team to meet the agreed scope, budget, and schedule. A lot of the work will be brownfield engineering requiring coordination between owners, operators, and construction contractors.  
The successful individual will need to have excellent skills in safety and risk management, communications, engineering deliverable management, and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

Working within a multi-discipline team of professional engineers and technologists 
Preparing detailed proposals that effectively summarize scope, cost & resource schedule estimates 
Ensure design, analysis and specifications are in accordance with applicable codes, governing statutory regulations, Wood procedures and meet project objectives and industry best practice 
Adhering to all health, safety, security, environment, and assurance requirements in accordance with Wood procedures and management systems 
Preparing technical documentation and providing technical analysis to support procurement of equipment 
Supporting equipment design, installation, start-up, commissioning, and troubleshooting 
Adhering to project schedules and approved budgets 
Ensure the project scope is clear and agreed among all stakeholders 
Ensure the baseline cost estimates, and schedule reflects the scope 
Act as the single point of contact for issues. Manage technical issues with Project controls, internal and client engineering 
Facilitate clarification, kick-off, closeout, progress, etc. meetings 
Review and approve work-packs 
Ensure adherence to Wood’s and client’s project management, change management and document management procedures and processes 
Monitor delivery status and progress, as well as costs and budgets 
Monitor and control change Management process 
Build and foster customer relationships at project and delivery level 
Review and approval of project handover and closeout 
Foster an environment of openness, trust, and honesty in support of Wood’s Core Values 
Travelling to client offshore facilities from time to time, and will require specific training for offshore travel 

Qualifications

Engineering Degree and Professional Engineer registered with the Professional Engineers & Geoscientists of Newfoundland and Labrador 
Must pass CAPP medical and Drug & Alcohol testing for offshore travel  
Must be lawfully eligible to work in Canada without sponsorship from Wood 
7+ years of relevant Project Engineering work experience (PMP certification will be considered an asset) 
Understanding of design regulations for the oil and gas industry in Newfoundland and Labrador environment is considered an asset 
Any equivalent combination of experience and / or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved may also be considered 
Strong leadership and motivational skills 
Proven team player with strong oral and written communication skills 
Able to engage directly and positively with customers and build customer relationships
