Job Description

Wood is currently recruiting for a Project Data Analyst in Glasgow. This will be a full time position working out of the Glasgow office on a hybrid ad-hoc basis.
At Wood we recognise the power of Data and Data Analytics. We’re building a Project Data Analytics team from the ground up to bring data analytics into project delivery en masse. A candidate joining us will start on the ground floor of this journey. 

Collects, integrates, consolidates data from multiple data sources so it can used in analyses to discover business insights
Develops, tests and maintains business intelligence architectures, including Microsoft Power BI Dataflows, Semantic Models and Reports
Develops, tests and maintains ancillary assets such as Microsoft Power Automate flows, Microsoft Dataverse tables, Microsoft SharePoint Lists, and Microsoft Power Apps
Adds value by analysing and interpreting data using Power BI Reports to help drive delivery across project management, project controls, engineering, HSE and quality teams

Responsibilities

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Interface with multidisciplinary team to generate and collate data; creates data sets by extracting large amounts of raw data from multiple different operational systems
Cleans data by identifying and removing human, machine or instrument errors, validates records, applies formatting and remove non-useful data
Uses Microsoft Power BI to analyse data to identify areas requiring additional investigation, and add value by generating project specific data summaries, reports and dashboards to effectively communicate data to internal and external clients
Plays a key role in our growing Project Data Analytics team, delivering the goal of helping Wood and its clients turn data into useful information for decision making
Provides a technical point of contact for internal and external clients, supporting their data analytics requirements
Provides the technical knowledge and solutions to deliver integrated data analysis and reporting against varying requirements and scopes
Works on technology Proof of Concepts to improve data capture, storage, rationalisation, analysis, reporting & visualisation capabilities

Working Responsibilities

Expected to work autonomously under general supervision and with ready access to support and guidance
Work is assigned in terms of specific objectives and guidelines, details including broad instructions covering generally what needs to be done, limitations, quality and quantity expected, deadlines and priorities are given

Additional specific instructions are given for new, difficult or unusual assignments
Unusual matters are referred to more senior authority
Actions and decisions typically have a moderate influence on the technical results of the project
Responsible for meeting own targets which will impact the project delivery

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Bachelors Degree or equivalent in a data-oriented field like Software Engineering, Statistics, or Computer Science and / or a qualification in Mechanical, Electrical or Process engineering is preferred but not essential

 
Knowledge, skills and experience:

Minimum 2 years’ experience in industry demonstrating results within the function

 
Experience of:

Understanding of how engineering projects are conducted is essential, in particular how data plays a part in driving project delivery and solving the problems of project managers, project controls and engineering teams on a day-to-day basis
Proven application of skills and ability to design effective reports or dashboards to help drive the delivery of project teams, and inform data driven decision making
Strong experience in Microsoft Power BI, including Power BI Dataflows, PL-300 Certification would be a big advantage
Experience in Microsoft Fabric would be a big advantage.
Understanding of data modelling best practices e.g. normalisation, schematisation etc
Understanding of software development practices 
Understanding of software development methodologies e.g. Scrum, Kanban etc
Strong experience in Microsoft Excel
Experience in Microsoft Power Apps
Experience in Microsoft Power Automate, including Power Automate Desktop
Experience in Microsoft Dataverse
Experience in Microsoft SharePoint, in particular creating and maintaining SharePoint Lists and Document Libraries.
Excellent communication skills at all levels of the organisation including experience of communicating technical information to a non-technical audience
