Job Description
Wood is currently seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer to join our Eastern Canada Operations team who will provide functional oversight through the application of extensive and comprehensive knowledge of electrical engineering design principles / practices in the performance of all electrical discipline design work across our Eastern Canada business.

Responsibilities
Manage and work within departmental overhead budgets to manage utilization of resources vs workload taking into consideration customer requirements
Plans and prioritizes work to meet discipline commitments aligned with organizational goals. With guidance, looks ahead to determine and obtain needed resources to complete plans
Provide discipline personnel to deliver work scopes in line with company policies and procedures
Line Management of direct reports, including: setting targets and objectives; performance reviews, career progression, training and development
Implement formal development frameworks for the discipline design team, ensuring the development of personnel to take more senior roles as their career progresses
Manage discipline competence assessments, development plans and support professional development
Identification of competence gaps in discipline group and identify / organize technical training or on the job development to close gaps
Provide support to the business development process to identify and win new work
Collaboratively produce discipline input to proposals
Prepare and maintain estimates and schedules
Drive elimination of technical incidents through robust controls, incident reviews and embedding lessons learned in engineering procedures
Support Operations and Engineering Managers to produce discipline input to engineering execution plans
Establish and continuously improve design systems and tools required by the discipline to deliver cost effective and competitive design execution
Where appropriate, manage projects, maintain and plan cost control, identify scope and schedule changes in accordance with the Change Control Process
Ensure that designs comply with the relevant Codes, Standards, Regulations and Procedures
Provide technical assistance to discipline assigned personnel, as required
Review, check and approve work output of discipline assigned personnel, as required
Ensure Health and Safety and environmental regulations are followed methodically
Qualifications
Electrical Engineering Degree from a recognized university
Registered professional engineer in Canada
15+ years of experience in the Power Utility, Mining / Industrial and / or Renewable Energy sectors considered an asset
Proven track record of leading a discipline engineering team of more than 20 technical professionals
Above average working knowledge of Protection & Controls, SCADA, Instrumentation and Telecoms will be considered an asset
Demonstrable experience in managing electrical scopes of multi-disciplinary projects
Solid knowledge of IEEE, ANSI, Canadian electric utility industry practices, CSA Standards and Local Codes
Attention to detail and pride in work quality
Excellent verbal, written communication skills
Strong client focus
Resourceful team player with self-starter aptitude
Current authorization to lawfully work in Canada without sponsorship from Wood is required
