This is a long-term contract position (5 years) based in Qatar. The role is offered on a single status basis (family relocation can be arranged at the candidate’s own expense, with assistance provided). The package includes a highly competitive day rate along with a monthly living allowance to cover food, accommodation, and transportation. Additional benefits include economy class flights for mobilization, demobilization, and annual leave, as well as comprehensive medical insurance. The work schedule is 5 days per week, 8 hours per day (22 days/month).
Qualifications
- B.Sc. or B.E. in Instrumentation, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university.
- Extensive commissioning experience on major Oil & Gas projects.
- Strong skills in construction management, effective communication, and conflict resolution.
Skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with commissioning software tools such as ICAPS or similar platforms.
Experience
- 12–14 years’ experience in construction, installation, and commissioning activities within the Oil & Gas industry.
- Background in implementing industry best practices, systems, and standards in construction and commissioning.
- Multi-discipline exposure with proven troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Offshore project experience in construction and installation strongly preferred.
- Solid technical background in commissioning F&G systems, DCS, ICS, Power Management Systems, Instrument Air, Wellhead Control Systems, and related packages.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Act as Commissioning Team Leader for offshore projects.
- Review and provide feedback on contractor scopes of work related to pre-commissioning, commissioning, and completions.
- Lead pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up support activities delivered by outsourced contractors, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements, approved procedures, and industry best practices.
- Report to the Head of Commissioning on all matters related to project commissioning execution.
- Contribute to improvements in commissioning procedures and standardization of deliverables.
- Develop commissioning strategies and plans, and secure necessary approvals in coordination with end users and contractors.
- Provide leadership to the commissioning team in developing procedures for all systems and facilities.
- Organize and ensure adequate manpower support from internal teams and contractors to meet commissioning objectives.
- Prepare detailed commissioning schedules aligned with project milestones and approved plans.
- Break down systems into sub-systems to streamline commissioning and start-up.
- Develop and obtain approval for commissioning handover checklists and certificates.
- Coordinate with contractors and vendors to resolve system or equipment performance issues.
- Collaborate with construction teams and end users on punch listing activities through all phases of commissioning.
- Ensure closure of punch lists and smooth handover of systems.
- Manage scheduling and presence of vendor representatives for site support, on-the-job training, and critical equipment commissioning.
- Participate in safety reviews, design studies, and FATs as required.
- Review multidisciplinary engineering deliverables from a commissioning perspective.
- Support project teams through closeout phases and gate reviews.
