Project Overview:

The Knoxville Engineering Office is the engineering hub for the Nuclear, Security, & Environmental business, supporting multiple projects. Projects involve government work throughout various sectors, including DOD and DOE.

Job Summary:

This entry-level position will allow you to perform assignments that will develop professional working knowledge and abilities through the application of standard engineering design techniques, applicable codes and standards, procedures, and criteria. You may develop standard instrumentation & control systems deliverables including instrument datasheets & specifications, control system logic diagrams, support the development of piping and instrumentation drawings, and more. You will exercise limited, but increasing, judgment in performing your assigned duties using methods prescribed by your supervisor. The engineer will work with other control systems engineers, other disciplines/functions, and/or the client. The successful candidate must have strong organizational and teamwork skills, proven problem-solving skills, a can-do attitude, and the desire to innovate designs.

This role will be based in Knoxville, TN with periodic business travel, as required.#LI-AA7

Major Responsibilities:

• Design and review of Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&IDs) to add control/functionality for intermediate process control systems.
• Specification of instrumentation and control valves.
• Prepare instrument and control valve data sheets and material requisitions.
• Prepare control narratives
• Prepare digital and analog control logic.
• Populate instrumentation, valve, and I/O databases.
• Allocation and layout of facility control system I/O.
• Design and application of tubing and instrument installations.
• Coordination of physical locations of instrumentation, control valves, control cabinets, etc.
• Execute to schedule requirements while maintaining a high degree of quality in work product.
• Coordination of technical issues with other engineering disciplines (e.g. Electrical, Mechanical) and other functions (e.g., Construction, Start-up).
• Review of supplier provided data and documentation.
• Some travel to plant and supplier facilities may be required.

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Requires a bachelor’s degree in electrical/chemical/mechanical engineering (or international equivalent) with 1-2 years of experience or 5-6 years of relevant work experience.

Required Knowledge and skills:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organizational, planning, and time management skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft application suite (e.g., Word, Excel, Access, Visio, PowerPoint, etc.)
