JOB DESCRIPTION

Our Services team is hiring aField Service Technician.In this role, you will be challenged by performing duties associated with the installation, testing, repair, upgrade, and maintenance on electrical distribution equipment while keeping quality, health, and safety a priority.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• The primary role is to perform site surveys, installation, testing, commissioning, repairs, preventative maintenance, and field modification (upgrades) of electrical distribution equipment on customer sites. Including but not limited to:
• Medium and Low Voltage Switchgear
• Protection Relays
• Control systems and PLC
• LV Drives
• Metering and Power Quality solutions
• Oil filled and open air Transformers

Other responsibilities may include but not limited to:

• Timely completion of customer reports, timesheets, expenses and updating Work Orders.
• Execute assigned work orders at or better than expected results
• Communicate daily with project leads and planners to ensure execution of work.
• Provide a level of service meeting or exceeding customer expectations.
• Drive sales initiatives in coordination with service and national sales teams.
• Follow and adhere to all Schneider Electric’s safety, operational and HR policies.
• Find new opportunities following the companies’ processes.

Qualifications and Skills required:

• Interprovincial Red Seal Electrician or Electrical Engineering Technologist
• 3+ years of Electrical Trade knowledge. Electro-mechanical or other electronics related equipment knowledge a strong asset.
• Experience working on utilities, mining & mineral, oil & gas sites is an asset.
• Strong work ethic and ability to work under pressure.
• Experience in communication protocols an asset.
• Experience with Drives, HMI, PLC and industrial automation and control is an asset
• Knowledge of North American Electrical standards applicable to LV & MV equipment. (IEEE, CSA, NETA, ANSI)
• Analytical and troubleshooting skills are a must.
• Computer literacy with standard business applications; MS Office, MS Excel, Protection relay software.
• Complete competence at utilizing test and diagnostic equipment such as multimeters.
• Characteristics including, self-starter, team player, punctual, personal and professional integrity, trainable, problem solver, organized, professional appearance, flexible, customer oriented, and safety oriented.
• Capable of displaying appropriate safety techniques and practices associated with job requirements.

Work Conditions:

• May be required to perform the following tasks, but not limited to: repetitive lifting/carrying; pushing/pulling; standing; climbing; squatting; bending; kneeling; or driving extended distances.
• Ability to lift up-to 75lbs.
• On Call requirements:Be able and willing to regularly travel to customer sites around Atlantic Canada, including after regular working hours and Weekends/Holidays.
