Service Center Manager, PAPI Upper Midwest

YOUR ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

As an ABB Field Service Technician, you will be responsible for performing preventive and corrective maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting of proprietary ABB Quality Control System (QCS) hardware and software, as well as assisting with any projects, upgrades, new installations, and advanced services. Works independently or as part of a small site team. While this position is remote, work will be done on-site at customers in the Grand Rapids, MN and surrounding areas. Successful candidates will be located in the area. Relocation assistance will be provided. This role is contributing to the Process Automation Process Industries division in the United States. You will be mainly accountable for: • Working with the customer (while on-site) to identify opportunities to improve the customer’s operations and eliminate pain points. • Performing field service tasks, identifying technical issues, and performing analysis through remote or on-site activity in service categories and products for which they are certified to perform. • Preparing material lists needed for service activity and ensuring that all materials, parts, and equipment are available and of appropriate quality for service activities. • Acting as trainer when needed, for field service associates and customers.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ROLE

• Associate’s degree in a related field and 2+ years of electrical/electronics, instrumentation or process control related work/military experience required. Or HS diploma/GED and 4+ years of related work/military experience required.
• Mechanical/Electrical aptitude including a basic understanding of electrical theory and electrical safety.
• Ability to read electrical drawings and utilize basic hand tools for troubleshooting electrical systems. Ability to use electrical test equipment such as voltmeters or multi-meters.
• Ability to diagnose malfunctioning electrical systems up to 240 VAC/870 VDC and perform preventive maintenance using electrical test equipment.
• Candidate should know how to identify voltage systems that are above the level 240 VAC/870 VDC.
• Exposure to DCS programming and troubleshooting is beneficial. Basic understanding of the paper making process and process control a plus.
• Travel up to 80% maybe required for training and assisting various sites.
• Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
