Field Service Manager

YOUR ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

In this role, you will have the opportunity to execute service work with low to medium complexity as per work instructions and in accordance with ABB standard processes, quality standards, and safety guidelines. Each day, you will plan and execute work on a first-time right approach with customers. You will also showcase your expertise by displaying a clear understanding of sense of urgency and care in your own area of responsibility. This role is contributing to the Process Automation Marine & Ports division in {insert region}. Main stakeholders are {insert main stakeholder groups if available}. You will be mainly accountable for: • Working independently to install, modify, test, repair or inspect company products and equipment including, but not limited to: low voltage and medium voltage circuit breakers, transformers, switchgear, protection relays and rotating machinery. • Performing or coordinating complex and diverse engineering activities associated with field projects. • Interpreting technical drawings and schematics and making changes as necessary in the field to reflect work carried out on site. • Increasing product and technical knowledge through factory or third party training, technical manuals and conventional or non conventional resources • Troubleshooting and repairing equipment, applying personal knowledge and experience. • Providing technical advice to customers on site and remotely. • Working closely with project managers to coordinate site activity. Assuming the role of site manager on some projects. • Providing leadership in the assembly and operation of lab and field service equipment. • Recording, compiling and reducing data for analysis and assisting in the subsequent assessment and reporting. • Leading assigned field services: responsible for planning, analysis and reporting of projects ranging in complexity from simple to advanced. • Assuming the role of a mentor or an advisor to less experienced company personnel and customers. • Ensuring quality and safe operations in the field. • Representing the company in conferences and meetings with customers. • Preparing or providing input for technical documents such as specifications, quotations, procedures or technical reports. • Reporting opportunities and problems to management. • Preparing timesheets, service reports, expense reports and other documents immediately following the work assignment. • Promoting to customers ways to optimize their operations or make general improvements. • Seeking other opportunities to promote customer satisfaction and foster harmonious business relations.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ROLE

• Associate’s Degree in Engineering or other technical field with minimum 5 years of experience in marine power generation and power distribution with a focus on circuit breaker and switchgear maintenance.
• Alternately, a special combination of education and experience and demonstrated accomplishments will be considered.
• Strong knowledge of protection relays and excitation.
• Familiarity with marine and offshore work environment and procedures.
• Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
