Project Overview:
Bechtel’s focus on renewables and clean energy is helping our customers deliver transformational renewables and clean energy projects. Bechtel renewables team will perform the project management, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and startup for the Mammoth South, Central I and Central II project for a 376MW DC each (Total of 1.1GW DC) solar plant in Pulaski County, Indiana.
Job Summary:
In this role, you will provide project field engineering support with work planning and packaging, material management, quantity verification and validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing knowledge, and coordination of system turnover. Your work will contribute to ensuring field engineering activities operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements.#LI-SP1
Major Responsibilities:
Work Planning & Packaging
• Prepares construction drawings and sketches.
• Interfaces in planning construction methods and procedures.
Material Management
• Initiates requisitions for field purchases
• Prepares quantity takeoffs of field purchased material and equipment.
Quantities
• Verifies commodities on quantity tracking systems or other computer database systems as required.
Safety / Quality Control
• Ensures zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.
Technical
• Proactively considers continuous learning or show interest to pursue appropriate learning activities
System Turnover Coordinator
For Direct Hire:
• Develops firm understanding of system and area scoping and drawings required for package development.
STR / Subcontract Coordinator
• Reviews and approves inspection test plans
• Coordinates reviews of subcontractor submittals
Education and Experience Requirements:
• Required bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
• Previous experience working with solar trackers (e.g., Nextracker, Array, Soltec, GameChange, etc.) is highly desirable
• Mechanical Aptitude and Hands-On Skills
• Demonstrated ability to assemble, align, and troubleshoot mechanical systems
• Comfort using torque wrenches, levels, digital inclinometers, hand/power tools
• Drawing and Plan Interpretation
• Ability to read and interpret: Tracker installation manuals, Construction plans (civil, structural, mechanical), Field-issued redlines and as-builts. Additionally, use of digital execution systems.
• Communication and Coordination
• Able to coordinate with civil, electrical, and commissioning teams
• Strong communication skills for reporting progress/issues to Field Supervisors and Engineers
• Demonstrated commitment to Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H) and commitment to a Zero Incident safety program.
• Must be physically capable to conduct field inspections and participate in project walkdowns which require the following activities: extensive walking in and around a construction site, walking on uneven surfaces, and lifting up to 40 lbs.
• Basic to intermediate knowledge of EPC and EPCM construction programs, technologies, means, and methods.
• Familiarity with Bechtel Standard Applications (BSAPs), including Setroute, ArcGIS, Aconex, DSCS, and Unifier
