Job Description

This position is for an on-site Instrument Designer at the Flint Hills Resources facility in Rosemount, MN. Fluor Enterprises Inc. has a Master Services Agreement with Flint Hills (FHR) and has been requested to provide engineering and design support on site at their Rosemount facility. Plant Engineering Services LLC (PES) specializes in small-mid cap projects and as a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor, has been tasked with staffing design resources at FHR.Position Summary: Operating under detailed instructions and review, this position is responsible for instrument design activities on capital projects within the energy industry. Essential Duties Include:
• Prepares new and revises existing wiring diagrams, location plans, loop diagrams, installation details, panel layouts, instrument data sheets, P&IDs using 2D CAD software.
• Prepares and revises project documents including construction scope of work, BOM, instrument index and other project lists.
• Conduct field walkdowns in a heavy industrial setting to verify or obtain field conditions in support of design – this includes use of basic PPE (safety toe boots, gloves, safety glasses, and hard hat).
• Participates in client drawing review, leads discipline discussion as needed, and updates drawings accurately post-comment session.
• Collaborates with other project groups including project management, instrument, controls, electrical, construction management, and crafts.
• Reviews site drawings, fabrication drawings, and vendor equipment documentation to ensure compliance with project requirements.
• Prioritizes safety and supports a safety-oriented culture 100% of the time.
• Other related duties/functions as assigned.

Basic Job Requirements

• Accredited two (2) year degree or global equivalent in technical field of study, or; A combination of education and directly related experience equal to four (4) years
• Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors
• Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
• Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
• Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner
• Knowledge of commercial availability and cost of materials
• Practical field experience
• Intermediate computer and software skills including the use of software such as MS Office and AutoCAD.

Preferred Qualifications

• Field work experience preferred including any wiring, commissioning, testing, or management of low and/or high voltage activities.
• Intermediate computer and software skills including the use of software such as Intergraph Smart Plant, AutoCAD, CAD Worx, Navisworks, Adobe, Bluebeam.

Salary Range

63,000 to 115,000

Market Rate

The market rate for the role is typically at the mid-point of the salary range; however, variations in final salary are determined by additional factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
