Job Description:

The Electrical Controls Technician’s primary role is to provide electrical controls integration and startup support to lead and senior controls engineers. Technicians are also responsible for leading communication with manufacturing assembly team members on electrical controls construction and system interface for projects that meet market and/or customer requirements. The Electrical Controls Technician will work closely with Electrical Controls Engineers to execute initial controls engineering content-related duties for systems and projects. Duties also include technical controls system I/O checks and minor alterations approved by Controls Engineers that consider manufacturing feasibility, cost, and operational efficiency. The technician supports the Controls Engineer within the organization with substantial knowledge and impact on the business.

ESSENTIALDUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist the electrical assembly team with panel building, system device mounting/wiring, and other tasks related to the electrical assembly process.
• Perform in-house system I/O checks and testing prior to systems leaving the facility.
• Work with engineering to learn the processes and procedures associated with designing an integrated control system.
• Assist with engineering, drawing reviews, and programming of PLC/HMI when appropriate.
• Troubleshoot electrical and software designs in-house and for other BW Integrated Systems and customer sites.
• Maintain BOMs for machine control designs by lead controls engineer.
• Ensure all documentation is updated to reflect controls changes.
• Prepare controls of systems for customer startup.
• Complete system layout verifications based on the engineered drawing package.
• Provide electrical installation support and be able to address questions from electrical contractors.
• Provide technical assistance and resolution when electrical or engineering problems are encountered.
• Participate in training customers on system functionality and operation. Demonstrate responsibility for the personal safety of self and others by maintaining a clean, orderly, hazard-free work environment, and compliance with safety practices and regulations.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in electrical technology or a related field and 2 years of related experience.
• Electrical schematic and hardware redline updates using AutoCAD or AutoCAD Electrical.
• 2+ years of experience programming Allen-Bradley or Siemens PLCs.
• Familiarity with industrial control panel design for voltages ranging from 24 to 480 volts.
• Ability to read and design electrical schematics.
• 2+ years of experience troubleshooting industrial I/O networks (Rockwell, Siemens, Beckhoff).
• Familiarity with NEC and UL codes and standards.
• Effective verbal communication and written skills.
• Ability to travel domestically or internationally about 20% of the time

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

• Proficiency in ERP systems, with Infor XA/MAPICS experience.
• Lean manufacturing and/or operational excellence experience.

The approximate pay range for this position is $54k -74k per year. Please note that the pay rangeprovidedis a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting.Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as geographic location of the position.
