Job Description
Wood currently has an exciting opportunity for a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in Electrical Engineering located in the City of Trail, British Columbia. This role has overall responsibility for providing Electrical Engineering and Design support, with an opportunity to provide project engineering and electrical discipline leadership, on industrial, power & mining projects.
Reporting to the Engineering Department Manager, this position will require working in the location of Trail, British Columbia, just 3 hours from Kelowna BC and 6.5 hours to Vancouver BC.
Our office provides full engineering, procurement and construction services on a wide variety of industrial projects related to mining, mineral development and processing and hydroelectric generation. Additionally, our engineering team and companywide environmental specialists are focused on Carbon Management & reduction initiatives to provide solutions to energy services to reduce emissions and protect our environment.
The Trail office currently numbers over 50 engineers, designers and support personnel. Trail is an affordable family-oriented community. Salary Range: CDN: 116,000 – 142,000 per year

Responsibilities
Provide project engineering and electrical discipline leadership.
Perform engineering design and related duties including but not limited to: power system studies, equipment specifications and selection, management of vendor / equipment suppliers, power distribution layouts, grounding, LV and MV motor sizing and selection, cable distribution design, schematics, single line diagrams, termination schedule and wiring design.
Ensure designs comply with the relevant Codes, Standards, Regulations and Procedures.
Provide technical assistance to discipline assigned personnel, as required.
Review, check and approve work output of discipline assigned personnel, as required.
Prepare estimates and schedules as well as assist in their review.
Prepare project documents and review those prepared by others for scope, presentation and technical accuracy
Effectively execute projects in study phases and project execution, as well as support projects during construction stage
Demonstrate effective organizational skills and handle multiple tasks independently, and as part of a team
Manage project budget, schedule and quality, and effectively implement change management procedures
Establish good working relationships and communication with project management, area leads, department managers, clients and other team members to coordinate and ensure the compatibility of design
Supervise and mentor junior staff, including assigning work and evaluating technical competence
Qualifications
P.Eng designation with EGBC
Electrical Engineering Degree from a recognized university
7+ years of relevant engineering experience on heavy industrial projects through various stages of the project life cycle
Experience leading diverse teams
Relevant site maintenance or operations experience is an asset
Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high volume and deadline-driven environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
Excellent interpersonal and decision-making skills
Positive attitude and ability to effectively work in a team atmosphere is imperative.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Committed to continual improvement and achieving engineering excellence.
Experience with ETAP or similar software design tools are considered an asset.
Demonstration of specific experience with aspects of Project Engineering and/or Project Management roles including ownership of overall project scope, schedule and budget management would be considered an asset
Authorization to lawfully work in Canada without sponsorship from Wood is required
This position is hybrid, with a minimum 3 days per week in the Trail office. If you are not located within commuting distance to Trail, BC, you must be willing to relocate
