Job Description:
The Electrical Designer is responsible for designing and preparing layouts for electrical power distribution systems. This role involves creating and modifying electrical schematics to meet customer requirements and modernizing designs. Key duties include drafting electrical control systems and collaborating with engineering personnel to define and implement design specifications.
Responsibilities:
• Maintain a safe and hazard-free work environment, adhering to safety regulations and promoting safety proactively.
• Participate in quarterly Safety Gemba walks and report any safety concerns to management.
• Design and verify electrical systems, including single-line diagrams, panel and cable schedules, cable trays, conduit layouts, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Draft and design electrical control systems, integrate them into existing systems, and create comprehensive drawing packages using CAD software.
• Work with engineering teams to define and design new machines and systems based on schematics, specifications, and engineering data.
• Use CAD tools to prepare layouts, ensuring design feasibility and operational efficiency.
• Perform calculations for electrical components and make necessary design adjustments for operational changes.
• Prepare design sketches, specifications, and project documentation, maintaining accurate product and project files.
• Analyze engineering change requests, implement drawing updates, and adhere to project timelines.
• Consult with engineering specialists and vendors to specify electrical components and prepare accurate schematics.
• Support other departments, assist with manufacturing and procurement issues, and provide guidance on technical matters.
• Conduct field service visits for technical assistance, identify improvement opportunities, and support customer installations.
• Assist with the implementation and sustainment of Operational Excellence practices aligned with Barry-Wehmiller’s framework.
• Ensure work areas are organized and recommend improvements for the shop and office.
• Develop and utilize standard operating procedures and documentation.
• May mentor or guide less experienced team members.
• Travel up to 5% annually for training, customer support, or business needs.
• Perform additional duties as required.
Education & Experience Requirements:
• High school diploma and a 2-year associate degree in Drafting or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years experience designing industrial control panels (24V-480V).
• Proficient in reading and designing electrical schematics.
• At least 2 years’ experience with AutoCAD or AutoCAD Electrical.
• Knowledge of NEC and UL codes and standards.
The approximate pay range for this position is $25.96 – $36 per hour. Please note that the pay rangeprovidedis a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting.Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as geographic location of the position.
